The Denver Broncos finished the 2023 regular season third in the AFC West with an 8-9 record. Head coach Sean Payton and the team once again saw their division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, win their second consecutive Super Bowl. If the Broncos are going to challenge the Chiefs next season, they will need to put together a strong 2024 NFL Draft class.

Denver Broncos Draft Analysis
The number one priority for the Denver Broncos heading into 2024 is fielding a potent offense. Depending on what happens with Wilson, the Broncos may be in a position to draft a quarterback. Michael Penix Jr. is one option for Denver. Penix has the attributes that Broncos’ General Manager George Paton is looking for. Despite the fact that he is a left-handed quarterback, his experience and mobility should bode well in the NFL. If he is paired with his teammate, wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk, the Broncos could prove to be explosive on offense next season.
Elevating The Offense A Mile High
Additionally, if the Denver Broncos do end up drafting Penix, they will need to tighten up their offensive line. Also, adding Michigan Wolverine Drake Nugent will help. A Colorado native, Nugent started his collegiate career at Stanford before transferring to Michigan this past season. But as a fifth-year senior for the Wolverines, he appeared in 13 games and didn’t allow a sack. Adversely, the Broncos offensive line allowed Wilson to be sacked 45 times last season. However, in order for Denver to be competitive in the AFC next season, the offensive line play must improve.
Drafting players such as Penix and Nugent will help the Broncos elevate their level of play next season. Furthermore, the Wilson era in the Mile High City has likely reached its tumultuous end. If the Denver Broncos win both the offseason and the draft, there is a chance for them to return to the postseason for the first time since 2016.
