Buffalo Bills’ safety Damar Hamlin is one of the greatest sports stories of the decade. On January 2, 2023, the safety went into cardiac arrest on the field. Medical personnel saved his life, and he was able to return to playing football. He has become an inspiration to many fans and has drawn awareness to many aspects of life-saving procedures. Hamlin became a free agent after this past year, and many wondered whether he would get signed. He isn’t going anywhere. Reports indicate the Bills are bringing him back on a one-year deal.
Buffalo Bills Re-Sign Damar Hamlin
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the Buffalo Bills plan to bring back Damar Hamlin on a one-year deal. The terms are not known at this time. The former sixth-round pick out of Pittsburgh was a solid contributor on defense this past season. He racked up 89 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and five passes defended. Additionally, he was a solid special-teams contributor, which doesn’t always show up in the box score.
Busy Offseason
The Buffalo Bills have been extremely active this offseason. Josh Allen signed a record-breaking extension, and the team signed many other key contributors to long-term deals. The team has made some surprising deals as well. Late Tuesday night, they signed former Defensive Rookie of the Year Joey Bosa to a one-year deal. After being heavily rumored to be interested in San Francisco, likely because of his brother’s presence, the Bills were able to get a deal done.
The Buffalo Bills aren’t playing around. They have seen a ton of regular-season success but have faltered in the playoffs over the past half-decade. There is a sense amongst many in the league that Kansas City might take a step back (I’ll believe it when I see it), so Buffalo might see this year as the golden opportunity. Signing Hamlin is far from a charity hire. He was a solid member of the defense last year and is looking to get this team back to the Super Bowl
