The Pittsburgh Steelers are making sure their offense looks different in 2024. After winning games despite their offense last year, the team wants to make sure they have solid players. They traded away Kenny Pickett and Diontae Johnson. Pittsburgh signed Russell Wilson and traded for Justin Fields. New offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has proven he can run an efficient offense during his time in Tennessee. The team isn’t done as the Pittsburgh Steelers signed wide receiver Quez Watkins to a one-year deal.

The Pittsburgh Steelers hope to harness the speed of Quez Watkins. They already have George Pickens and Calvin Austin, but they have added even more speed. Watkins was a sixth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. In his four years, he has racked up 98 receptions for 1,249 yards and six touchdowns. Hamstring injuries limited his production, and the Eagles decided to move on.
It will be interesting to see how the Pittsburgh Steelers use Quez Watkins. Arthur Smith is not known for using slot receivers. Watkins might find a home on special teams. He has the potential to become a good return specialist for the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the potential new kickoff rules, he could be a deadly weapon.
Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 Outlook
Many analysts have applauded the Pittsburgh Steelers for their offseason. Whatever you think of Russell Wilson, there is little argument that he is an upgrade over Kenny Pickett. The defense should be as good as ever. TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick are back and they signed former Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen in free agency. The offense doesn’t have to score 40 points a game to win.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a floor of competence. They can field a competitive team that always seems to be in the mix for the AFC North. Will moves like the Quez Watkins signing help move the needle for this team?
