Sergei Bobrovsky earned his seventh series-clinching win, Gustav Forsling was the first Panthers defenseman to score a series-clinching goal, and the Florida Panthers clinched Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. With the series on the line in a tight game, and a defensive lapse by the Bruins, Forsling scored the go-ahead with 1:33 remaining in the third period, after a tightly played Game 6. After blowouts in each of the first three games, the last three games were within one score. As the defense for both sides tightened their screws, ultimately the Bruins just couldn’t generate the scoring necessary…

There is one ticket left for the Eastern Conference Finals, and the Florida Panthers are trying to stamp theirs on Friday for a date with the New York Rangers. The puck drops at 7:00 pm EST in Boston. While the Panthers are looking to finish the series, the Bruins are looking for history to repeat itself in reverse. Last year, the Bruins had a 3-1 lead against Florida in the first round, and the Panthers were the ones to claw back, force a Game 7, and ultimately clinch the series. After a stellar Game 6, the Bruins are halfway there.…

The Boston Bruins had the game of their lives, went into Florida, and extended their season with a 2-1 over the Panthers on Tuesday night. This is exactly what the doctor ordered. In what was maybe their most complete game of the post-season, everyone did their part to get the win. Jeremy Swayman had 28 saves, and the Bruins’ defense did their part with 21 blocked shots. The Panthers are no doubt the more physical team. However, on this night, the Bruins outhit Florida 49-35 and stood strong through every wave the Panthers threw at them. Without their captain and…

The Florida Panthers are one game away from their second straight Conference Finals, up 3-1 on the Bruins heading into Tuesday. Game 5 is at 7:00 pm EST in Sunrise. After a convincing 5-1 win in Game 1, the Bruins have all but disappeared and are on the ropes tonight. Brad Marchand made the trip to Florida, but it is unclear whether or not he is starting tonight. Jeremy Swayman has been the lone starter for Boston since Game 3 of Round 1, and rightfully so. However, a starter for tonight has not been named. Despite questions surrounding Marchand and…

In a game full of controversy and drama, the Florida Panthers push the Bruins to the brink of elimination with a 3-2 win at TD Garden on Sunday night. Boston had one of their best starts of the post-season, despite getting only five shots, going up 2-0 in the first period. Pastrnak got the scoring started halfway through the first. Carlo netted his third of the playoffs six minutes later, providing much-needed depth scoring that has been a topic of conversation in Boston over the last few weeks. Anton Lundell brought the Panthers within one with five minutes left in…

The Bruins are down 2-1 in the best-of-7 series against the Panthers, and they’ll be playing Game 4 tonight without their captain Brad Marchand. Sam Bennett is playing his second straight game for Florida after being out with an injury, and he slid in flawlessly in Game 2. The puck drops at 6:40 pm EST. As much as the series is only 2-1, this is as close to an elimination game as you’re going to get, and it feels that way. Apart from a sleepy Game 1 from the Panthers, they have dominated almost every minute of the last two…

Some people don’t believe in momentum when it comes to the playoffs, but the Florida Panthers bottled that Game 2 tenacity and flew it up to Boston, laying another beating on the Bruins in Game 3. After starting the series with one powerplay goal in the first two games, the Panthers went 4/6 with the extra man, including a combined four PP points from Tkachuk and Barkov. Right from the drop of the puck, the Panthers were the stronger, faster and hungrier team. The Bruins scored two goals in the first ten minutes of the third, making the score a…

In the playoffs, they say, you’re not in trouble until you lose on home ice, and after getting a split in Sunrise, the Boston Bruins look to take advantage of some home cooking. The puck drops at 7:00 pm EST Friday night. Heading into this series, the Panthers were the clear favorites over the Bruins. So far, each team has had its blunders and victories, and the ice is as even as it gets heading into Game 3. In Game 1, Swayman was a brick wall, Bobrovsky couldn’t buy a save, and the Bruins ran away with a 5-1 win.…

For the first time in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Jeremy Swayman allowed more than two goals, and the Florida Panthers ran away with Game 2 on Wednesday night. Heading into the third period, the Panthers were up 3-1, and even though Florida was controlling the scoreboard, Swayman made some big saves, and the Bruins were hanging around. Within 90 seconds of the period starting, Luostarinen scored for the Panthers, and the game completely flipped on its head. After 40 minutes, the teams combined for 12 penalty minutes, and neither team could score on the powerplay. Between the 10:25 mark…

The Panthers attempt to even up the second round in Game 2 against the Bruins on Wednesday night. The puck drops at 7:30 pm EST. Heading into the series, it was the age-old debate of a classic “Would you rather”. Would you rather be well-rested after a week off, or play 48 hours after a Game 7? Well, this time, they both played 48 hours ago, and the Panthers find themselves down a game in the series. They’re the better offensive team, defensive team and the more physical team. But after Swayman’s performance the other night, not to mention in…

There is finally a Game 6 in the Eastern Conference as the Toronto Maple Leafs have extended their series against the Boston Bruins. Scotiabank Arena in Toronto will be the venue. The opening face-off is at 8:00 pm on Thursday, and both teams are entering Game 6 with the past rearing its ugly head. For Boston, this scenario is way too familiar. After winning the President’s Trophy last year, they opened their playoff run with a 3-1 lead on the Panthers. Game 5 went to overtime, they lost, and the Panthers went on a deep run themselves. The Bruins haven’t…

If Round 1 was a moving vehicle, it would be driving through the “Whiteout” tonight, as the Avs and Jets embark on Game 5 north of the Border. The puck drops at 9:30 pm EST, and since that Game 1 barn-burner, we’ve seen the same movie in the last three games. In Games 2 and 3, Winnipeg had a 2-1 lead halfway through the second period, before the Avalanche flipped the proverbial switch, and took both games over. In Game 4, the Jets never had the lead, but had the game tied 1-1, until yet again, the second period hit…

In 2018, The Bruins beat the Maple Leafs 5-1 at home in Game 1 and 3-1 in Toronto in Game 4 to take a 3-1 series lead. They ended up winning the series in seven games. The Leafs are hoping the future repeats itself. Except this time, completing the comeback and winning the series. Game 5 swings back to Boston at 7:00 pm EST, Tuesday night. Neither team has dominated the other so far in this series, and one might argue this series is more about what Toronto hasn’t done rather than what Boston has done. Either way, the Bruins…

The Winnipeg Jets will try to tie up their series with the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday afternoon. Game 4 kicks off at 2:30 p.m. EST. After an exhilarating 7-6 win in Game 1, the Jets were up 2-1 halfway through both Game 2 and 3. Their goaltending was solid, and their defensive play limited a very dangerous Avalanche offensive attack. Unfortunately for the Jets, games are 60 minutes, not 40. No team in the NHL can flip a switch like the Avs, and in two straight games, Winnipeg has experienced just that. Third-Period Heroics Propel the Avalanche in Game 3…

The Boston Bruins are up 2-1 on the Toronto Maple Leafs, as the series continues tonight at 8:00 pm north of the border. As it often is in the playoffs, this series has been all about opportunity. The Leafs have outhit the Bruins 171-155 for a total of 326 hits in just three games. Toronto has a 100-88 edge in shots too, while only scoring 6 goals. This has been the only close series in the Eastern Conference with the other three series being 3-0. However, if Toronto doesn’t win tonight, In my opinion, it’s curtains. After combining for 20 goals in the first two games of the series, the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche battle for the 2-1 lead on Friday night. The puck drops at 10:00 pm, and after what we saw on Sunday and Tuesday, there’s no doubt this has been the most exciting and chaotic series up to this point. I’m sure both coaches would love a little less chaos, but I’ll speak for all of us when I say, give me more of whatever that was in Games 1 and 2. Now the series shifts to Denver, where the Avalanche went…

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins are all tied up at 1-1 as this divisional match-up heads north. The puck drop is Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Who’s in the net in Boston? Will William Nylander suit up for Toronto? Will Mitch Marner and Brad Marchand show up for their respective teams? There are lots of questions from both sides heading into tonight. Both teams have done a great job at taking away time and space from each other, and that style of play does suit the Boston Bruins. Especially without Nylander playing for the blue and white. The Colorado Avalanche and the Winnipeg Jets were owners of maybe the most exciting game over the weekend. And they faceoff again for Game 2 tonight at True North Centre at 9:30 pm EST. The Colorado Avalanche ( 50-25-7) will experience the infamous “Whiteout” in Winnipeg tonight as they start their Round 1 matchup with the Jets (52-24-6). The first puck drop is at 7 PM EST, and it may be the biggest coin flip out of any matchup this post-season. The Colorado Avalanche are leaning on what brought them here: Offense Back in October, the Colorado Avalanche were expected to be here. Some expected them to be division winners, while others expected them to start the summer as Stanley Cup champions. The former didn’t happen, and the latter is going to be a doable, yet…
