Korbin Albert, USWNT’s midfielder, has been in the limelight of late. She recently shared posts on social media that were against the LGBTQ+ community. Lindsay Horan and Alex Morgan, Albert’s teammates, criticized her online activities.
Alex Morgan Condemns Korbin Albert
Korbin Albert, a 20-year-old top player, shared and liked several posts last week that Megan Rapinoe claimed were against LGBTQ+ members. Still, she shared a TikTok video of a man alerting the church during the sermon that he would stop his gender-transition. Albert also shared a video of the 4 July 2023 weekend in which she was with her family saying the community’s “pronouns are U.S.A.”
The duo denounced the PSG player’s activity since her content was anti-LGBTQ+. They claimed that she failed to “uphold” the team’s integrity.
The Players’ Joint Statement
Horan and Morgan had a random video call on Wednesday addressing Korbin Albert’s posts before their upcoming SheBelieves Cup. Horan stated, “We’ve worked extremely hard to uphold the integrity of this national team through all of the generations, and we are extremely, extremely sad this standard was not upheld. Our fans and our supporters feel like this is a team they can rally behind, and it’s so important they feel — and continue to feel — undeniably heard and seen”
Morgan said, “We stand by maintaining a safe and respectful space, especially as allies and members of the LGBTQ+ community. This platform has allowed us to highlight causes that matter to us — something we never take for granted. And we’ll keep using this platform to give attention to causes that are important to us.” Yet, Horan and Morgan failed to answer questions about Albert.

Korbin Albert Apologizes After Alex Morgan’s Criticism
Albert debuted for USWNT in November 2023 and played in the team’s group stages game. She helped it win the Gold Cup this year and is likely to be in the country’s Olympic squad.
Even so, Rapinoe, Morgan, and other people’s sharp criticism of her latest posts prompted Korbin Albert to apologize. She posted on her Instagram account, “Liking and sharing posts that are offensive, insensitive, and hurtful was immature and disrespectful, which was never my intent,” Albert shared on Instagram. I’m disappointed in myself and am deeply sorry for the hurt that I have caused my teammates, other players, fans, friends, and anyone who was offended.
I truly believe that everyone should feel safe and respected everywhere and on all playing fields. I know my actions have not lived up to that and for that, I sincerely apologize. It’s an honor and a privilege to play this sport on the world stage and I promise to do better.”
