The Washington Commanders and Defensive Lineman Eddie Goldman agreed on a one-year deal on Wednesday afternoon. The exact terms of the deal are not known at the time of publication. He is coming off a down season with the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, his first since 2021. Goldman finished with 16 tackles and 1 sack.
Goldman did not play in the NFL in 2022 or 2023 after retiring from the NFL in March 2022. He ended his retirement in March 2023 but did not play in the league that season. He has 190 career tackles and 14 sacks. Will he be able to revitalize his career with the Washington Commanders in 2025?
Washington Commanders Offseason Outlook
Washington has been one of the league’s most active teams this offseason following a shocking run to the NFC Championship Game. Washington has made two marquee trades this offseason. They acquired Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers and Offensive Lineman Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans.
They also re-signed a few key players from last year’s team including Linebacker Bobby Wagner and Tight End Zach Ertz. Washington also signed Defensive Tackle Javon Kinlaw and Cornerback Will Harris. Goldman joins a Commanders defense that was solid against the pass and miserable against the run. Even though Washington’s moves have skewed offense this season, they improved their defense as well.
Final Thoughts
Goldman will give the Commanders defensive line depth in 2025. Washington’s moves illustrate they believe their time to win a Super Bowl is now. After a great postseason, they have worked hard this offseason to improve the team in all three phases.
