The Los Angeles Chargers re-signed Linebacker Troy Dye to a 2-year $5.5 million deal on Wednesday afternoon. Dye’s contract could reach a maximum of $8.5 million. He is coming off a career season with the Chargers in 2024. He had a career-high 57 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Dye was also ranked the 25th-best linebacker against the run according to PFF. Dye succeeded during his first career season where he was given an increased role. How will he play for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025?
Los Angeles Chargers Offseason Outlook
Los Angeles is looking to build upon a strong 2024 season that led to them making the NFL Playoffs. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh worked wonders for the team in his first year at the helm. LA has had a great offseason thus far. They signed Running Back Najee Harris and Cornerback Donte Jackson. They also re-signed Linebacker Khalil Mack and Center Bradley Bozeman.
Dye returns to a Chargers defense that was one of the league’s best in 2024. They led the league in points per game and were seventh-best against the pass. Los Angeles must also add at least one marquee wide receiver either in free agency or next month’s NFL Draft. Quarterback Justin Herbert only had one reliable offensive weapon last season, Ladd McConkey.
Final Thoughts
Dye is a solid signing for the Chargers. He will look to build upon a career season with the team going forward. It has been a great offseason for the team, and they may not be done yet.
