Miami Dolphins Re-Sign Linebacker Tyrel Dodson On 2-Year Deal

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins re-signed Linebacker Tyrel Dodson on a 2-year $8.25 million deal on Wednesday. He is coming off the best season of his career in 2024. Dodson finished with 107 total tackles, 3 interceptions, and 2 sacks.

He spent half of the regular season with the Seattle Seahawks before being acquired by the Miami Dolphins in November. He was the fifth-best linebacker in coverage last season according to PFF. Dodson’s NFL career has included stints in Buffalo, Seattle, and Miami. Will he be able to build upon a career season for the Miami Dolphins in 2025?

Miami Dolphins Offseason Outlook

The Dolphins are looking to rebound from a disappointing regular season. They finished 8-9 and missed the NFL Playoffs. Miami has had a busy offseason thus far bolstering their offense and defense. They signed Zach Wilson to back up Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Miami also signed veteran Wide Receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.

Dodson was not the only player Miami signed to help its defense. They signed Cornerback Ifeatu Melifonwu and Safety Ashtyn Davis. Miami’s defense was ninth-best against the pass last season. They have strengthened that part of their team in free agency.

Final Thoughts

Dodson was an obvious player for the Miami Dolphins to retain. He had the best season of his career in 2024. Dodson will return to Miami on a team with playoff aspirations.
