Green Bay Packers Get Past Rams In Close Game 24-19

The Green Bay Packers (3-2) beat the Los Angeles Rams (1-4) by a score of 24-19 at SoFi Stadium. With the wide receiver position lacking depth today, Green Bay found a way to overcome adversity and leave Los Angeles with a victory. After being down by three points at halftime, the Packers stepped up on both sides of the ball in the second half.

The win will help their standings in the NFC North division as the Minnesota Vikings remain undefeated. Here is a recap of the Green Bay Packers win against the Los Angeles Rams.

In the first half, Green Bay scored first on a short touchdown run by Josh Jacobs. Rookie kicker Brayden Narveson hit a lone field goal right before halftime, leaving the Green Bay Packers down by just three points. Starting quarterback Jordan Love went 15-26 for 224 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Decision-making at quarterback looked skeptical at times as Jordan Love scrambled into the back of the end zone throwing the ball up for grabs. Love tried to throw the ball out of play, but because of the pressure coming toward him, he just wanted to make a play without taking a possible safety. The third quarter was huge for the Green Bay Packers and provided the spark offensively as they scored 14 unanswered points.

Backup tight end Tucker Kraft scored a 66-yard touchdown after receiving a pass from Love. It was the longest-scoring play by a tight end in over 12 years. Kraft had a big day as a pass catcher with four receptions for 88 yards. Jayden Reed played a significant role in the receiving core with wideouts Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs out of the game.

Green Bay Packers Physical Defense

Defensively, the Green Bay Packers made critical tackles and got to Matthew Stafford when it mattered the most. Preston Smith and Karl Brooks applied heavy pressure bringing down the opposing quarterback. Jaire Alexander was ruled out due to his quad injury that he suffered two weeks ago against the Tennessee Titans.

The Packers’ newest free safety Xavier McKinney intercepted Stafford in the third quarter for his fifth time in just as many games. This set a record and he became the first player since 1970 with that distinction. It also came down to the last several minutes as the Los Angeles Rams had a chance to pull ahead in the final quarter. It took a stop on fourth down for the Green Bay Packers to seal the victory.

Conclusion

If the Green Bay Packers can play complete games going forward, they should continue to have a successful 2024 campaign. As long as they can remain healthy and get some of their key players back from injury, the NFC North division will be within reach for their football team. Green Bay will face the Arizona Cardinals in week six at Lambeau Field. Kick-off is set for 1:00 pm ET on Fox.
