2024 Tennessee Titans Season Outlook: Ambitious Offseason Moves Achieve Playoffs?

Tennessee Titans 2024 Season Outlook Tony Pollard Tyjae Spears

The Tennessee Titans shook their roster and coaching staff up this offseason, as their changes should lead to success in 2024.

In 2023, they won six games and had quarterback Will Levis have some good but some bad moments in his rookie season. With another year as the starter, the Titans have surrounded him with more weapons heading into his sophomore season.

This is mostly to determine if Levis is their franchise guy moving forward, as Tennessee brought in Tyler Boyd, Calvin Ridley, and Tony Pollard as their big-name free agents. On defense, the Titans took a big swing at trading for cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to sure up their secondary. In the 2024 NFL Draft, they spent their top pick on offensive tackle J.C. Latham.

With new head coach Brian Callahan, can his scheme and their new weapons be enough to take Tennessee over the top?

Tennessee Titans: Easiest Stretch

From Weeks 9-13, the Tennessee Titans could find themselves getting a few wins. With matchups against the New England Patriots, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Washington Commanders, and Jacksonville. I could see them getting three or four wins in this stretch, as they beat the Chargers and division-rival Jaguars last year.

In 2023, they also lost close games against the Indianapolis Colts twice but did beat the Cincinnati Bengals and have a Week 15 tilt against them. The Titans have an early Week 5 bye week and face the Dolphins in Miami right after in their only primetime game for 2024. Levis and Tennesse found a way to beat them last year in primetime as well.

Before Week 8, the Tennessee Titans have three games against playoff contenders and two that should be looking to make it in 2024. They play the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 at Nissan Stadium and then have two games away against the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions from Weeks 7-8. Tennessee will have to be able to run the ball with Pollard and Tyjae Spears for these matchups.

Their season opener is against the Bears in Chicago, and their home opener the week after will be against the New York Jets. Getting one or two wins from the matchups mentioned in this section would be good for their playoff chances. The Titan’s defense with Sneed and Jeffrey Simmons, along with their young offensive line, will have to step up for these tough games.

The Tennessee Titans always have close games against their divisional opponents, and I expect them to split their matchups against the Texans, Jaguars, and Colts. It will be interesting to see Callahan‘s offense with Levis and his receivers DeAndre Hopkins, Ridley, and Boyd. Their offensive line has to be better in protecting their young quarterback than in 2023.

Their schedule finishes off with three games within the division, so those early divisional tilts will be key to potentially stealing a win early in the year. This would set up a hypothetical sweep against maybe one of their division rivals later on in the season. But realistically, even getting a Wildcard playoff spot is optimistic for the Tennessee Titans in 2024.
