FC Dallas Fans Risk Missing Goals Due To Bathroom Breaks
If you think you’ve heard everything, think again. There might not be anything more frustrating than a fan taking a poorly timed bathroom break when their favorite MLS team wins, but FC Dallas fans are potential victims of this unfortunate statistic.
According to a recent study by The Grueling Truth, FC Dallas fans could miss 2.1 of their favorite MLS team’s goals per season due to poorly timed bathroom breaks.
FC Dallas fans spend an average of 2 minutes and 36 seconds per match due to bathroom breaks. The fans’ bathroom breaks often overlapped with the peak scoring windows shown in The Grueling Truth’s analyses.
The study analyzed over 100 FC Dallas matches and subsequently showed that the first 30 minutes have the lowest statistical possibility of a goal. That being said, the first half is likely the safest time for fans to leave their seats to take bathroom breaks.
How Do FC Dallas Fans Stack Up?
FC Dallas fans miss an average of 2.1 goals per season due to bathroom breaks, but this is a median statistic in the study.
MLS fans could miss up to 4.6 goals per season due to bathroom breaks. Therefore, 52% of U.S.-based soccer fans missed their favorite team scoring because of a bathroom break, and the average American soccer fan takes one bathroom break per match for about 2 minutes and 23 seconds.
Orlando City SC fans are at the highest risk among all MLS fanbases. The fans risk missing 4.6 goals per season due to bathroom breaks. The fans’ average of 1.48 bathroom breaks per game, for about 2 minutes and 41 seconds, and about 3 minutes and 59 seconds away from their seats per match, lead the MLS.
In contrast, New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls fans are at the lowest risk among all MLS fanbases. The Revolution and Red Bull’s respective fanbases could miss just 1.5 goals per season due to bathroom breaks.
Avoiding bathroom breaks isn’t for the faint of heart. But, with the ongoing MLS action, 90% of the professional soccer fans hold it in to avoid missing any of the action.

The Grueling Truth’s Methodology
In The Grueling Truth’s “Best Bathroom Break” study, the staff analyzed 106 matches per MLS team, covering the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons, along with the first four matches of the 2026 season.
The staff conducted a nationwide survey of 3,000 MLS fans in March 2026. The respondents were asked about their match-day habits, including their favorite MLS team, average number of the bathroom breaks per game (excluding halftime), typical duration of a bathroom break, along with when they’re most likely to take a bathroom break, whether they’ve ever missed a goal when away, and whether they actively delay breaks to avoid missing the action.
