What Will the Tennessee Titans Do With the First Pick Of 2025 NFL Draft?
The 2025 NFL Draft is approaching on Thursday, April 24, 2025, and when the curtains come up all eyes will be on the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have the first pick in the draft. What they choose to do with it could start a domino effect throughout the league. The Tennessee Titans are currently scheduled to make eight picks in the first round. I’m not going to cover the endless butterfly effect of how trades may ruin this mock draft. We will look at the Titans’ needs, what priority those needs may be, and how they could use the picks to fill those needs.
Round 1; Pick 1: Cam Ward QB – Miami (FL)
Ward has climbed to the top of draft charts across the league. However, did he climb his way to the top, or does this have something to do with Shedeur Sanders, the other top QB prospect in this draft, instead? While I believe that Sanders has the bigger upside, I have my concerns that Ward’s draft stock mostly rose in the time since he last played a down of football.
It is still reported the Tennessee Titans are eyeing Ward. They cannot move forward with the level of QB play they’ve seen from Will Levis. I expect them to take the guy they like the most at the most needed position here.
Round 2; Pick 35: Grey Zabel IOL – N. Dakota St.Â
If the Tennessee Titans are going to have success with picking Cam Ward at No. 1 overall, they need to protect him. Grey Zabel is one of the top inside offensive line prospects in the draft and would be a steal anywhere within the second day of picks. Due to his position and the trend of teams in the league to go with a young talented WR to go with a QB choice, the Titans need to jump on this guy with both feet if he’s available at 35.
Round 4; Picks 103, 120: Elijah Arroyo TE – Miami / Dont’e Thornton Jr. WR – Tennessee
Tennessee does not have a pick in the third round. Many people believe the Tennessee Titans will look for more weapons for Ward as early as the second round. I think the offensive line is the foundation for any rebuilding football team.
Therefore, I would address this need. First, I have Ward getting help from a familiar face in Elijah Arroyo who he played with at Miami. Next, they address the need for a big target receiver to compliment Calvin Ridley and keep the hometown vibes going by drafting 6-foot-5 Dont’e Thornton Jr. out of Rocky Top.
Round 5; Picks 141, 167: Lathan Ransom S – Ohio State / Caleb Rodgers OT – Texas Tech
Tennessee also has two picks in the fifth round of the draft. At this point, I have them starting to look for backups or potential near-future replacements. Quandre Diggs has been a good contributor with the Tennessee Titans but is also an injury concern.
The back end of the secondary could use some upgrading. In the worst case, they will still benefit from the depth. The same concept also goes for the offensive line. I have Tennessee focusing on linemen who can thrive in run-blocking situations. I think that’s a wise philosophy for a team with a young QB and an RB on a prove-it season in Tony Pollard.
Round 6; Picks 178, 188; Tahj Brooks RB – Texas Tech / Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins DL – Georgia
Tennessee’s final two picks come 10 picks from each other in the sixth round at 178 and 188. If he’s still available late, Tahj Brooks would be an amazing pickup for the Titans. Especially if the Pollard experiment doesn’t yield better results this year.
Brooks had over 1,500 yards last season and played with another player on this list, Caleb Rodgers. For their final pick, the Tennessee Titans take a page from the playbook of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Titans’ strongest unit on their team is the defensive front and some great prospects have come out of Georgia in recent years. This 6-foot-5, 280-pounder will add depth, and youth and bring a two-time national championship pedigree to Nashville.
