New York Giants Running Back Cam Skattebo Makes An Appearance On WWE Monday Night Raw
You just can’t keep a good man down. Or in the case of Giants Running Back Cam Skattebo, you can’t even keep an injured man down. While most of us nursing a severe ankle injury would be posted up on the couch, mainlining potato chips and binge-watching reruns, Skattebo is apparently using his recovery time to moonlight as a WWE enforcer.
On Monday night, the bright lights of Madison Square Garden weren’t just for the wrestling superstars of “Monday Night Raw.” They also caught a glimpse of New York’s finest, as Skattebo and a posse of his Giants teammates decided to take in the show from ringside. It was a classic New York crossover event, with comedian Andrew Schulz also in the mix.
Skattebo Enters the Fray At Monday Night Raw
Things went from zero to sixty faster than a Saquon Barkley breakaway. Schulz, ever the instigator, got into a verbal spat with the notorious wrestling faction, Judgment Day. Now, a normal person, especially one wearing a protective boot, might just lean back and enjoy the scripted drama. But Skattebo is not a normal person.
When one of the wrestlers put his hands on Schulz, Skattebo popped up like a jack-in-the-box, ready for action. He got right in the face of JD McDonagh, and before you could say “touchdown,” he delivered a two-handed shove that sent the wrestler stumbling. Suddenly, it was an all-out (staged) brawl.
Teammates like Abdul Carter were throwing (fake) haymakers, and the whole scene devolved into a glorious mess of pushing and shoving between NFL giants and WWE villains. It was the kind of chaotic energy that can only happen at MSG.
What’s Next For the Giants’ Running Back?
Let’s be real, the security barrier probably did more to protect the wrestlers from the football players than the other way around. And while Giants fans and management might have had a collective heart attack seeing their injured running back getting physical, you have to admire the guy’s spirit. Just weeks after ditching his scooter, he’s already mixing it up. His energy is infectious.
Skattebo’s offseason tour of New York combat sports seems to be in full swing, as he was also spotted at UFC 322 over the weekend. Is he scouting a post-football career? Probably not. More likely, he’s just a guy who can’t sit still. And while we’re all eagerly awaiting his return to the field, this little detour into the world of professional wrestling was a hilarious and welcome reminder of the fire that makes him a fan favorite.
