Shannon Sharpe $50 Million Reaches Settlement
There has been a settlement reached in the lawsuit between Jane Doe vs. Shannon Sharpe. The sexual assault lawsuit was looking to get Sharpe to pay $50 million for his alleged wrongdoing and eventually forced the former tight end to step away from his role at ESPN. Let’s take a closer look at what news regarding the settlement has come out and what it means going forward.
Shannon Sharpe Settles in Massive Lawsuit

Shannon Sharpe Below is the full statement posted on social media by Jane Doe’s attorney Tony Buzbee about the settlement being reached:
“JANE DOE V. SHANNON SHARPE On April 20, 2025, The Buzbee Law Firm filed a complaint in Nevada making several allegations against Shannon Sharpe on behalf of our client. Both sides acknowledge a long-term consensual, and tumultuous relationship. After protracted and respectful negotiations, I’m pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually agreed upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.”
The lawsuit accused the Pro Football Hall of Famer of sexually assaulting a woman he met in 2023. The lawsuit alleged Sharpe was ‘controlling’ and ‘abusive’ during the length of their relationship. Days after the suit was filed, Buzbee would release audio of a man who sounded like Sharpe appearing to threaten violence of the accuser. Sharpe would deny the allegations and later say he was planning to countersue for defamation on Apr. 30.
As of this writing, Sharpe has not addressed the decision publicly. It will be intriguing to see what happens next as he initially stepped away from his role at ESPN, and there has been growing speculation that he is done at the Worldwide Leader of Sports. With the NFL coming up, only time will tell if he is appearing on First Take in the next couple of months.
