The New York Giants’ offense was why they lost this game with poor play calling and running. While Daniel Jones played poorly and was a crucial reason why they lost, it was also poor play calling.

New York’s two brutal two-point conversion failures cost the Giants a chance to win. There was also a brutal defensive penalty that cost the team the game, but it was over by then. The Giants’ poor first half was also a reason they lost due to being a poor team on defense against the Commanders. In this New York Giants Week 9 recap, the team struggled horribly on offense during the first half. New York during the game against the Commanders had Jones throw six times for no yardage and a touchdown. The Giants also ran a poor run game with Tyrone Tracy rushing for 66 yards. The run game has been a weak spot for the Giants even with the emergence of Tracy and the weak season of Devin Singletary. 

While the first half was poor for the offense, Jones was leading a comeback against the Commanders. During the second half, Jones threw for a passing touchdown and later added a rushing touchdown. Even with getting the game close, Jones’ ability as a starting quarterback is low due to his regressing as a starting quarterback.  

Weak Defensive Stands

In this New York Giants Week 9 recap the defense also played poorly against the Commanders. Washington was running around the Giants defense with 149 rushing yards from the team. There was also Jayden Daniels having a great game with two touchdowns and 209 passing yards. 

The Giants also let their mental struggles get to them after trying to make a comeback against the Commanders. At the end of the game, the Giants committed a facemask penalty against the Commanders that was costly.  That penalty gave the Commanders time to kill the clock and end the game against their rivals. While the penalty was a killer, the Giants defense was playing poorly today so it wasn’t worth it.

Final Thoughts

This New York Giants Week 9 recap shows that the team is going to have a high draft pick in 2025. The New York Giants offense has been a mess this season and the first half of this game was proof. Having a fumble, and giving up 21 points, shows the team is lost with the coaching. While the Giants were trying to come back, the coaching was poor with two missed conversions. 

While being aggressive is nice, taking the extra point could have done the same thing. There was also the lack of ability from Jones and his success as a starting quarterback. This season has been a nightmare for Jones and could be his last season with the team. 

Along with the offense, the Giants defense underachieved in the first half, letting them score points. While the defense only gave up six points in the second half, a brutal penalty killed their comeback. With the season being a nightmare, this New York Giants Week 9 recap shows this team is going to tank for a better future.
