Chargers win 20-9 but Khalil Mack Out with Devastating Elbow Injury on MNF
Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Khalil Mack left the Monday Night matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders with an elbow/arm injury that has fans and coaches holding their breath. The veteran defender, who has terrorized Raiders quarterbacks throughout his career, was forced from the game in the first quarter after what appeared to be a significant injury.
The Chargers beat Las Vegas 20-9 to move their record to 2-0.Â
Mack went down while attempting to tackle Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker during the opening frame. Video replays showed the 33-year-old linebacker getting his left arm caught underneath a Raiders offensive player, causing immediate concern on the sidelines. Medical staff quickly attended to Mack, who was visibly favoring his elbow as he walked toward the blue medical tent.
At the time of the injury, the Chargers organization listed Mack as questionable to return, but the severity of the injury became apparent when he was carted to the locker room for further evaluation. By halftime, the official announcement was made by team officials that Mack was out for the rest of the game. Mack was shown in the third quarter with his arm in a sling.Â

Impact on Chargers Defense Cannot Be Overstated
Before exiting the contest, Mack had already made his presence felt with one tackle, one sack, and one tackle for loss in limited action. Since joining the Chargers in 2022, Mack has been a consistent force on the pass rush. He recorded 31 sacks over his first three seasons with the team, including six sacks in 2024 that earned him another Pro Bowl selection. The veteran also contributed 39 tackles, nine passes defended, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery last season.
Raiders Connection Adds Extra Sting
The timing and opponent make this injury particularly frustrating for Mack and Chargers fans. The Buffalo native spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Raiders before being traded to the Chicago Bears in 2018. His return to face his former team always carries extra significance, and his early exit Sunday robbed fans of what could have been a memorable performance.
Throughout his career, Mack has maintained solid numbers against Raiders quarterbacks, though specific statistics against his former team were not immediately available. His presence alone typically forces opposing offensive coordinators to account for his pass-rushing ability, creating opportunities for other Chargers defenders.
