Jaguars Kicker Cam Little Shatters NFL Record With Jaw-Dropping 68-Yard Field Goal
When you learn that Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little just made a 68-yard field goal, you know it is a big deal. That is the nice thing about the NFL.The field is the same size at all levels, an average fan can understand 50 yards to the middle of the field, 10 yards to the goal post if it is high school, college, or the pros.
Not only is it a big deal, it sets the all-time record for the longest field goal in an NFL game. The feat happened as time ran out in the first half of the Las Vegas-Jacksonville game Sunday. The field goal narrowed the score to 6-3, in favor of Las Vegas. But the game is not what anyone was talking about at halftime. It was all about Little.
Little Boomed a 70-Yard FG in Preseason – Not a Record
No one doubts Little has the leg for the kick. Little proved he could do it in preseason, making a 70-yard kick. Of course, that kick did not make the record books, as it was preseason. In fact, there are several NFL kickers who have the leg to boot the ball up to 68 yards or further.
The interesting thing is that the “game situation” plays a part in this record kick, as much as leg strength. The clock was at 2 seconds before halftime when the field goal lined up from the Jaguars 42 yard line. The score was 6-0 in favor of Las Vegas. The Jacksonville offense was going nowhere…it made sense to try the kick.
Justin Tucker Had The Previous Record
Justin Tucker owned the previous record kick. Tucker hit a 66-yarder for the Baltimore Ravens that won the game against Detroit as the clock turned to zero.
If a team is winning and needs to down the ball, a record kick is not attempted. If the clock is not ready to run out in the half, the kick is not attempted. If there is fear the kicker will miss badly, and set up a return (see Auburn miracle), the kick is not attempted. Weather plays a factor: Las Vegas is in a dome.
On November 2, 2025, the situation was right. The time was right. The enviroment was right. And, let’s not forget Little did his part. He kicked a 68-yard field goal! He did it from the other side of the 50-yard line!
Most of us have stood on a football field. Now just think if you stood on the 42 yard line, looked 68 yards to the goal post, and tried to kick the ball there. Impossible for us. Yes. Improbable for a NFL kicker.
Until now.
