Indianapolis Colts Sign Future Hall of Fame QB Ahead of Week 15
The Indianapolis Colts are dealing with some significant quarterback injuries to the point that they have no healthy quarterback on their roster. With the NFL Trade Deadline passed and playoff hopes still alive, the team has signed a future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback to return to the team. Let’s take a closer look at who it is and what it means for the team.
Philip Rivers Signs with the Indianapolis Colts

It is being reported by multiple outlets that future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Phillip Rivers is coming out of retirement to join the Indianapolis Colts. He has officially signed to the team’s practice squad, but the 44-year-old quarterback has not been in the league since the 2020 season, when he was with the Indianapolis Colts as well.
Rivers was the starting quarterback in the 2020 season for the team with an 11-5 record, but he has not played in a game in five years. He was one of the semifinalists for the Class of 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame. If he were to play in a game, his Hall of Fame clock would reset to make him eligible in five more years.
This comes after starting quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a ruptured Achilles, backup Riley Leonard suffered an injury, and Anthony Richardson will remain on Injured Reserve with an eye injury. Rivers is going to go through practice over the next few days to see if he will be able to play at his age and current stature.
Rivers has a 134-106 record and made eight Pro Bowls in his career. With the skill position talent for the Indianapolis Colts, it is going to be intriguing to see if they are able to make the postseason with him under center. Currently, the team is eighth in the AFC and are out of the playoffs with a handful of games remaining.
