New York Giants Try To Get 2nd Straight Win Against New Orleans Saints
The New York Giants got their first win of the season last week against the Los Angeles Chargers and will go for their second straight tomorrow afternoon. Rookie QB Jaxson Dart provided a much-needed spark for New York, but they’ll have to put up points in the rest of the regular season without Malik Nabers. The Saints are still searching for their first win of the season, dropping their fourth straight to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.
Giants Want To Build Momentum
Last week, Dart led the Giants to a huge upset win to start his career in New York. This week will bring an easier matchup for him, going up against the winless New Orleans Saints. The game plan for them will look different, as they lost Nabers to a torn ACL. Despite losing Nabers, the offense was able to prevail, and the defense stepped up in the biggest moments.
With how good the defense is, the offense doesn’t need to put up video game numbers. Their defensive line wrecked absolute havoc last week, sacking Justin Herbert twice and intercepting him. The defense set the tone early on in the game, which took a ton of pressure off of Dart and the rest of the offense.
Can Saints Get Their First Win?
New Orleans has gotten off to a poor start under Head Coach Kellen Moore, and the Giants will be another tough task in Week 5. While Spencer Rattler hasn’t played badly so far, he hasn’t done enough to win close games. They’ve lost two one-score games, with their worst loss coming against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3.
They have yet to have a receiver record over 100 receiving yards in a single game, and Alvin Kamara hasn’t been able to get going. When the offense stalls late, it puts an immense amount of pressure on a weak defense. Moore will have to get creative with his offensive game plan this week and establish a short passing game. Rattler will have to be efficient and get the ball out early.
Key Matchups
Matchup #1: Kevin Banks & Taliese Fuaga vs. Brian Burns & Abdul Carter. The Saints’ offensive line will have to stop a defensive line that has a threat on all sides of the field. Burns has had arguably the best year of his pro career and is doing it alongside Dexter Lawrence, who is always a headache for opposing offenses.
Matchup #2: Kool-Aid McKinstry vs. Wandale Robinson. With Nabers out for the rest of the season, Robinson will slot in as the Giants’ top receiver on the depth chart. Robinson will need to step up in a big way and fill the absence that Nabers leaves.
