Eagles vs. Packers Week 10 Injury Report: Injury Woes and Monday Night Mayhem
Here we go again, Eagles fans. Just when you thought the bye week was for healing, resting, and maybe figuring out how to not give everyone a collective heart attack in the fourth quarter, the injury report drops like a lead balloon. This week’s edition is a real nail-biter, especially with a trip to the not-so-frozen tundra of Green Bay for Monday Night Football looming.
The biggest question mark, glowing like a neon sign in a dark alley, is the status of center Cam Jurgens. His knee seems to be more stubborn than a fan trying to argue that Carson Wentz was the long-term answer a handful of years ago. After missing two straight practices, the odds of him snapping the ball to Jalen Hurts on Monday are looking about as good as a snowball’s chance in, well, you know.
The Center of the Eagles’ Problems
Cam Jurgens, the Pro Bowl center who played through agony in last season’s playoffs, is on the shelf again. After battling back from offseason back surgery that seemed to slow him down earlier this year, a new knee injury has him sidelined. Honestly, the guy’s durability is starting to look a little suspect. You have to wonder if his body is held together by duct tape and sheer willpower at this point.
If Jurgens is a no-go, the Eagles will once again turn to the ever-reliable, seen-it-all veteran, Brett Toth. Toth, who’s already played more this season than he probably expected in his wildest dreams, held his own against the Giants. But let’s be real, the Packers’ front seven is a different beast entirely. Asking Toth to step in again is like asking a guy who just got his driver’s license to race in the Indy 500. Look for the Eagles to have a similar plan as the Giants game to help Toth out.
Concussion Concerns and Silver Linings
It’s not just the offensive line that’s feeling the pain. Cornerback Adoree’ Jackson is also in doubt, nursing a concussion and missing practice. Losing him would be a significant blow to a secondary that needs all the help it can get. Let’s hope he gets his bell un-rung and clears protocol before Monday.
But it’s not all doom and gloom in the City of Brotherly Love. Defensive Tackle Moro Ojomo, who was also in the concussion protocol, was a full participant in practice on Friday. That’s a fantastic sign and suggests he’s on track to be a disruptive force against the Packers’ offense. We’ll take any good news we can get at this point.
Reinforcements on the Horizon for the Eagles?
Speaking of good news, several key players are practicing and looking ready to return from Injured Reserve. The 21-day practice windows for CB Jakorian Bennett, OLB Nolan Smith, and OL Willie Lampkin are ticking. While they haven’t been activated yet, their presence at practice is a welcome sight. Bennett’s deadline is looming, so a decision on him is coming soon. The Eagles could certainly use the reinforcements, especially if the injury bug continues its relentless, soul-crushing tour through the locker room.
The rest of the squad, including stars Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown, were full participants and appear ready to roll. Thank goodness for small miracles. Now, it’s just a waiting game to see if Jurgens and Jackson can miraculously heal in time for the bright lights of Monday Night Football. Don’t hold your breath.
