Eagles vs Cowboys Rivalry Gets The Opening Game Treatment on September 4th
The Philadelphia Eagles will raise their Super Bowl 59 Banner against a familiar foe on NBC on September 4th at 8:30 PM. Adam Schefter tweeted early Monday morning that the NFL has decided that the Eagles will face off against the Dallas Cowboys in the opener. The news was also announced by Mike Tirico on the Today show, This game is going to be one of the better games to watch on opening week now.Â
Eagles vs Cowboys Rivalry RenewedÂ
The Cowboys get the opening game, a week after they traded for George Pickens to be their WR2 alongside Ceedee Lamb, also Dak Prescott will be returning healthy from a hamstring injury that ended the 2024 season. Meanwhile, the Eagles will also have a new look on defense with the departures of Josh Sweat, CJ Gardner Johnson, Darius Slay, and Milton Williams. It should be interesting to see how the atmosphere is going to be as the Rivalry of the NFC East is going to headline the NFL season, with the banner being raised with a crowd that’s going to be ready to say DALLAS SUCKS all night long.Â
The game is going to be one of the easiest sellouts of the NFL season at Lincoln Financial Field, it will also probably be one of the highest-rated games of the year, ratings-wise. I think this was a smart move by the NFL to put this game in the end as the opener because it gets a lot of eyeballs on the banner raising, and two great rivals will look to start their journey towards the Lombardi trophy on the right foot.Â
Final Thoughts
As an Eagles fan, this was one of the games of the options that I didn’t expect to be the opener, but I’m glad. I get to watch this game in primetime to start the season with my lovely mother, who is a Dallas Cowboys fan. I would’ve also liked the Rams and or Lions as well on opening day, but the EAGLES vs COWBOYS RIVALRY is going to be so fun to watch on September 4th. Total Apex Sports will have more NFL news all year long, heading into the start of the NFL Season.Â
