Detroit Lions Center Frank Ragnow Failed Physical, Not Making 2025 NFL Return
The Detroit Lions have been dealing with a lot of injuries on the offensive line this season as they try to hold onto a chance to win the NFC North. However, there was some positive news as center Frank Ragnow was expected to come out of retirement and join the team going forward. However, there has been some significant updates regarding his status, so let’s take a deeper dive into what we know about the Detroit Lions center’s status.
Frank Ragnow Not Returning to Detroit Lions in 2025

Center Frank Ragnow was expected to make a return out of retirement to join the 2025 Detroit Lions, but that is no longer happening. The team put out an announcement about the unfortunate news and explained why the return is not happening:
“Frank Ragnow reported to our facility yesterday and went through the normal process of meetings. Unfortunately, during the routine meeting with our medical team, Frank failed his physical. The medical exam revealed a Grade 3 hamstring strain that will keep him from participating for the remainder of the regular season. For that reason, Frank will not be rejoining the Lions. Frank has always been a team-first guy and is a true warrior. He will forever be a Lion.”
The offensive line for the Detroit Lions has been banged up this year as center Graham Glasgow missed the Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers with a knee injury while three other starting offensive linemen were also on the injury report.
The Lions are attempting to keep the team healthy enough going forward as they are on the outside of the playoffs entering Sunday, being eighth in the NFC with their 7-5 record. It is going to be intriguing to see if the Lions can flip a switch as the regular season comes to a close.
