The Detroit Lions Had a Disappointing Game In Green Bay
The Detroit Lions came into Green Bay and showed a sub-par performance against their divisional rival, the Packers. The Lions could not get anything going on offense, and their defense gave up 27 points in the loss. Head Coach Dan Campbell will have to rally his troops for next week against the Chicago Bears.
The Detroit Lions Had a Disappointing Performance
The Detroit Lions will have to regroup for Week 1 and put Week 1 behind them after their mediocre performance against the Packers. Quarterback Jared Goff had 225 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 31 of 39 passes. The Lions’ offense went 1-for-4 in the red zone, couldn’t run the football or escape the Green Bay Packers’ pass rush in high-leverage situations, leading to a 27-13 Packers win at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
It was nearly the first time the Lions were kept out of the end zone for a full game since losing 24-6 to the Dallas Cowboys in October 2022. The Lions just could not get the run game going, nor could the offense get into any type of rhythm.
It seemed like the Lions are trying to relive their last season’s magic, and it’s just not there at the moment. But there is no need to panic as a Lions fan, as this was only the first game. There is plenty of time to get back into a rhythm and fix the mistakes that were shown here in Green Bay.
Back To the Drawing Board
Campbell has his work cut out for him. It was not the outing of the first game of the season that the Lions were looking for. Even broadcaster and former NFL Quarterback Tony Romo said, “Detroit fans … these guys inside (offensive line) are going to get better, I know it didn’t look great today, but you’re going against a very, very good defense, and I think that they’re only going to improve.”
Goff will have to step up his game to lead this team into what they were a season ago. The Detroit Lions have a daunting schedule ahead of them, with another divisional game next week against the Chicago Bears.
