Did Dallas Cowboys Just Replace Zach Martin in 2025 NFL Draft?
The 2025 NFL draft has been full of fireworks from the beginning. The Dallas Cowboys had a down year after making the playoffs the previous four years. Dallas ended the season with a record of 7-10, landing themselves in the 12th pick in the draft. With the 12th pick in the NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys have selected OG Tyler Booker from Alabama.
Dallas Cowboys Play It Smart In 2025 NFL Draft
The Cowboys’ season was plagued by injuries last season. Most notably, the leg injury to Dak Prescott, which ended his season. They revamped their coaching staff, bringing in Brian Schottenheimer from the offensive coordinator position. With the 28th-ranked defense and the 18th-ranked offense last season, there’s a lot of room for improvement. Tyler Booker is a characteristic pick for Jerry Jones and fills a need as surefire Hall of Famer Zach Martin retired after the 2024 season. Dallas still has needs to address, especially at RB, but having a solid offensive line is an investment in the run game as well.Â
Adding the Finishing Touches to a Talented RosterÂ
The Dallas Cowboys have a ready-to-win roster, having been considered a major contender in previous years before the disastrous 2024 season. The season-ending injury of Dak Prescott in week 9 was the real turning point, as Dallas’ backup option Cooper Rush had seemed to decline since he last saw the field. Building in the trenches is what the Cowboys have done historically, and it’s a wise and balanced pick for the Cowboys’ current needs.
The idea here is that hopefully your QB can’t get hurt if he’s better protected. Also, the Cowboys may have underperformed on defense last season, but they still have Micah Parsons and what could be a very good defense on paper. We have to wait and see how it will all come together on the field for the Cowboys, but this is a very fundamentally strong and solid pick for Dallas.Â
