Chicago Bears Offense Turning Heads With 94-Yard Touchdown Drive At OTAs
The Chicago Bears have invested plenty of resources into their offense for the 2025 season. Last year’s first overall pick, Caleb Williams, had a rough rookie year. While there are definitely things he can improve on, poor coaching definitely played a factor. The organization made a big splash, hiring former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to transform this offense into a juggernaut. Through the first few practices, the offense hasn’t found its groove. However, on Wednesday, during a two-minute drill, the offense drove 94 yards, capping the drive off with a touchdown.
Chicago Bears Offense Hums In OTAs
The #Bears first team offense successfully completed a 94-yard two-minute drill today vs. the defense. Drive ended on a touchdown pass from Caleb Williams to Kyle Monangai.
Williams also made a nice throw on the run to Olamide Zaccheaus for about 36 yards.
Jonathan Owens did…

It isn’t necessarily a surprise to see a team’s defense dominate during summer practices. Offenses take time to click, and the Chicago Bears are learning a brand-new playbook. Wednesday was the first day that the offense showed some progress. It wasn’t perfect, but Williams and the offense drove 94 yards, which included a nice 36-yard pass to Olamide Zaccheaus. It’s clear that Johnson is having his star quarterback work on shorter routes while letting Williams do what makes him special.
The drive wasn’t without hiccups. Williams was almost picked off twice by Jonathan Owens, but the passes fell harmlessly to the ground. Taking care of the football is paramount to the success of an offense. The former USC Trojan did a nice job of limiting interceptions last year and needs to keep that up in year two for the Chicago Bears to be successful.
2025 Outlook
Last year at this time, many had the Chicago Bears as a dark horse candidate for a wild-card playoff spot. It didn’t take long for people to abandon those predictions. Still, Williams showed promise, throwing for 3,541 yards and 20 touchdowns, while only throwing six interceptions. With Johnson coaching the team and the upgrades they have made through free agency and the draft, many have them as a wild-card contender yet again.
This year feels different for the Chicago Bears. While this is Johnson’s first head coaching gig, he does have a body of work. GM Ryan Poles continued to make solid upgrades, and this team is looking to make some noise in the NFC North. It won’t be easy, as the Lions, Packers, and Vikings are all looking to return to the playoffs again in 2025.
Final Thoughts
Last year’s offense was a disappointment for the Chicago Bears and their fans. There were high hopes in September that were immediately dashed in week 1. Seeing this type of performance, even in a June practice, is promising. Can Williams become the first 4,000-yard passer in Chicago Bears history?
