Chicago Bears Make Big Moves In the 2nd Round
The Chicago Bears wasted no time strengthening their depth on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft. After selecting Colston Loveland in the first round, the Bears followed it up by drafting three key players: Wide Receiver Luther Burden, Offensive Tackle Ozzy Trapilo, and Defensive Lineman Shemar Turner.
Each pick fills a clear roster need and brings physicality, experience, and upside heading into the 2025 season. With injuries, depth issues, and offensive inconsistency haunting them in recent years, these additions could be critical for a playoff push.Â
Luther Burden Adds Explosive Weapon
The Bears needed more firepower in the receiving corps. Luther Burden gives them exactly that. He’s a dynamic playmaker with elite YAC ability, body control, and toughness. Pairing him with D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze gives Caleb Williams another reliable target. His skill set fits perfectly in Ben Johnson’s offense, which emphasizes versatility and quick-strike potential. Chicago lacked consistent production outside of Moore last season. Burden has the tools to change that immediately.
Trapilo and Turner Fill Key Needs
Ozzy Trapilo is a massive tackle with strong hands and disciplined technique. He brings protection for the Bears’ young quarterback and can compete for a starting role immediately. With Braxton Jones’ health concerns and inconsistent play at left tackle, Trapilo offers stability and long-term value on the line.
On defense, Shemar Turner is a power rusher who can move across the line and cause disruption. He provides much-needed depth behind Montez Sweat and Gervon Dexter. Turner’s physical tools and SEC experience will help Chicago rotate defensive linemen without sacrificing pressure or toughness.
