Update: CeeDee Lamb Will Not Return Against Bears With Ankle Injury
Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver CeeDee Lamb hurt his ankle and is questionable to return to the game against the Chicago Bears. The Dallas star got his feet tangled up on a play late in the first quarter, and as he stumbled, a defender fell on his left ankle. Lamb’s ankle got caught beneath the defender, and he went down. He limped off the field. He returned for one play early in the second quarter and came up lame. He has not returned since.
Lamb’s Significance To The Cowboys
Lamb is the Cowboys‘ best receiver. The four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver led Dallas last season with 101 receptions and 1194 receiving yards, and he was second on the team with six receiving touchdowns. He was off to a good start in 2025, as well, with 16 receptions and 222 yards over the first two games. Lamb had not yet been targeted with a pass when he left the game. Fourth-year man Jalen Tolbert will take Lamb’s place in the Cowboy offense .
The Cowboys picked up George Pickens in the offseason from the Pittsburgh Steelers, so the injury does not hurt as much as it would have in years past. It will be a blow for Dallas in this game, though. Dallas trails Chicago 24-14 at halftime. The Cowboys will receive the second-half kickoff.
Dallas Struggling On Both Sides Of The Ball
Dallas struggled on both sides of the ball in the first half. The Cowboys moved the ball well on offense, but they have struggled to finish drives. Javonte Williams ended one drive with a fumble, and Dallas was forced to settle for Brandon Aubrey field goals on two other promising drives.
On defense, the Cowboys have allowed multiple big plays. Caleb Williams hit Rome Odunze for a 35-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game for the Bears. After an Aubrey field goal made the game 7-3, Williams struck again with a 65-yard bomb to Luther Burden III.
Update: Lamb has been ruled out for the rest of the game.
