Bills Address Defensive Front With Aggressive 2nd-Round Trade-Up
The Buffalo Bills traded 56, 62, 109 to the Chicago Bears for 41, 72 and 240 in the second round on Friday Night! Buffalo would go on to use the 41st pick to address the trenches with that pick, which was a weakness for the Bills last year, especially in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship in January. This prospect is from the SEC and knows a thing or two about physical football.
The Buffalo Bills select T.J. Sanders with the 41st Pick
T.J. Sanders had 51 tackles and four sacks with the South Carolina Gamecocks last season. When you look at those numbers, that is a little underwhelming, but it’s normal and great for his position. Sanders will address the Bills’ need to clog up the middle, stop the run as a nose tackle, and have the opportunity to make an impact right away, on day one for this Bills team.
The Bills needed this pick, and they were aggressive with the trade-up with the Bears. Brandon Beane was smart to make this pick, as Buffalo is still looking to be in contention right away for the Super Bowl. This pick, paired with Maxwell Hairston, is going to make a big impact on the defense.
Final Thoughts
TJ Sanders is going to be a solid player for Buffalo in my estimation, not a guy that is going to overwhelm the stat sheets, but he’s going to play a huge role in Sean McDermott’s Defense well enough to make a difference against the run, with the occasional pass rush opportunity. The Buffalo Bills’ defense just got a lot more dangerous at the right time. Buffalo is being aggressive with the defensive picks thus far, and their fans should love this a lot.
