Baltimore Ravens Defensive Superstar Defends Lamar Jackson Turnover-Filled Loss To The Bengals
Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton offered a strong vote of confidence for his quarterback, Lamar Jackson, following a difficult performance in the team’s 32-14 Thanksgiving loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Jackson struggled with turnovers throughout the night, but his All-Pro teammate was quick to downplay the significance of one bad game.
Baltimore Ravens Miscues Cost Them
The Ravens’ franchise quarterback had an uncharacteristically sloppy outing, losing two fumbles and throwing an interception. The miscues repeatedly put the Baltimore defense in difficult positions and stalled offensive momentum against a division rival. Despite the frustrating loss, Hamilton stood by his quarterback.
“Even LeBron Has an Off Night”
In his post-game media session, Hamilton contextualized Jackson’s struggles by comparing him to another sports icon. “Even LeBron has an off night,” Hamilton told reporters, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. The comment served as a clear message of support from the locker room, framing the performance as a rare exception rather than a cause for concern.
Jackson himself acknowledged his need to play better and protect the football. “I just got to play consistent. Canโt have turnovers. Weโre putting the defense on the field too much,” Jackson said after the game. He completed just 17 of his 32 pass attempts and was sacked three times by a Bengals defense that entered the game ranked near the bottom of the league. While not all of the team’s turnovers were his fault, his three were critical in the loss.
Mounting Concerns for the Ravens
While Hamilton’s support is unwavering, Jackson’s performance is part of a recent trend of inconsistent play since he dealt with lingering hamstring and ankle injuries. Though Jackson has insisted the injuries are not affecting his play, his accuracy and ball security have been noticeably less reliable in recent weeks.
The loss was a significant setback for the Ravens in the competitive AFC North. While the defense also had trouble containing Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase in the second half, the offensive turnovers created too large a hole to climb out of. As the Ravens look to rebound and stay in the playoff hunt, Jackson’s ability to return to his MVP form and eliminate costly mistakes will be the most critical factor for their success down the stretch.
