Alex Singleton Is Nearing Returning After Battling Cancer
Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton was diagnosed with testicular cancer on November 10th after taking a simple drug test because he was flagged for an elevated level of a hormone called hCG. Singleton played through the Raiders game on Thursday Night Football and had surgery the following day. After playing through a torn ACL last season, Singleton continues to show why he’s one of the toughest players in the entire NFL.
Singleton Nearing Return
After a two-week absence, Alex Singleton is nearing a return to the field. Alex Singleton told Good Morning America that his pathology results came back clean from cancer. He is cleared to practice with the hope of playing on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, just 23 days following the surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
Singleton has been the leader of the Broncos’ defense, even when he’s been forced to sit on the sidelines, always communicating with his teammates and helping them improve as a whole unit. Being without Dre Greenlaw for most of the season, Singleton had to step up and play a lot of the snaps on defense because there simply was no one else at the linebacker position other than Justin Strnad.
Even without a ton of key defensive players, the Broncos continue to dominate opposing offenses. Their defensive line is setting sack records at a historic pace, which has only made the secondary’s job easier. Heading into an important part of the season, Denver will need to keep their winning streak alive.
Broncos Are Chasing The One Seed
Heading into Sunday Night Football against the Washington Commanders, the Denver Broncos are in a tight race with the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots for the top seed in the AFC. The Broncos have six games left this season and can’t afford to lose any of their four remaining conference games.
Denver will be getting a huge reinforcement on defense in the coming weeks, with superstar cornerback Patrick Surtain set to return within the next two weeks. The Broncos’ defense has played at an elite level even without Surtain, and when he returns, they’ll only get stronger.
As far as the offense goes, they’ll look to be more consistent throughout all four quarters and play clean football. After they had extended rest against the Kansas City Chiefs, the offense looked better and put together a ton of key drives. Bo Nix was able to thread the needle as he did in his rookie season, spreading the ball all across the field, which is something he’s struggled with throughout the season.
