Aaron Shampklin’s Journey With the Miami Dolphins Ends
The Miami Dolphins made their latest round of roster cuts that included Aaron Shampklin. A former running back from Harvard, he brought a unique blend of explosiveness and vision to training camp. Known for his ability to turn on the jets and find openings that others might miss, Shampklin had been working tirelessly to prove he belonged on the Dolphins’ final roster. At Harvard, he consistently turned heads, finishing as one of the Ivy League’s most productive rushers and averaging over 6.3 yards per carry during his college career.
He played three NFL games last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he doesn’t land on another team’s roster quickly, he could find himself on Miami or another team’s practice squad.
Dolphins Make Additional Cuts Other Than Aaron Shampklin
Alongside Shampklin, the following Miami players were waived based on various news reports.Â
- CB Mike Hilton: The veteran’s release surprised many, given his starting pedigree and the team’s need for experienced defensive backs. Hilton’s departure signals confidence in younger players like Jason Marshall Jr.
- OL Jackson Carman: The former Cincinnati Bengals draft pick joined Miami hoping for a fresh start but couldn’t secure a spot on an offensive line dealing with injury concerns throughout the summer.
- OL Jalen McKenzie: Signed early in training camp, McKenzie represented organizational depth but couldn’t overcome the competition for limited roster spots along the offensive line.
- DL Ben Stille: Originally drafted by Miami in 2022, Stille’s return this summer felt like a homecoming, but three draft picks ahead of him on the depth chart made his path to the 53-man roster nearly impossible.
- TE Pharaoh Brown: His release opened questions about Miami’s blocking schemes, as Brown had established himself as a reliable option in short-yardage situations throughout his career.
- OL Mason Brooks: Added just a week prior amid injury concerns, Brooks’s quick departure highlighted how fluid roster construction becomes during crunch time.
- OL Addison West: The undrafted rookie from Western Michigan showed promise at center during preseason action but couldn’t secure a spot despite solid fundamentals.
- WR A.J. Henning: His versatility on special teams wasn’t enough to overcome a crowded receiver room, though his return abilities suggest practice squad potential.
- CB Ethan Robinson: That spectacular interception against Detroit will be remembered, but one play couldn’t overcome roster mathematics.
- RB Mike Boone: Added recently after Alexander Mattison’s season-ending injury, Boone may return via the practice squad according to reports.
