Newcastle United’s Superstar Snubs Manchester City and PSG’s Transfer Interest for 2024-2025 Season

It isn’t often that you see a mid-tier Premier League player snub top clubs’ interests before the upcoming transfer window. Newcastle United isn’t anything to shake your head at, but they are not Chelsea, Manchester City, or Liverpool in terms of quality and weight. Usually, if a NUFC player is recognized by world-renowned clubs for a surprise transfer, they would be more than willing to discuss terms.

But that is not what happened when French La Liga teams and EPL giants announced they were coming after a young midfielder.

NUFC Midfielder Turns Down European Giants in Football

If Manchester City, Arsenal FC, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain came knocking on any footballer’s door, they would be delighted. But not everyone thinks the same. That can sure be said for the Newcastle Untied attacker, Bruno Guimaraes.

Guimaraes has had a stand-out season for NUFC this year. At 26 years old, he still has numerous years of football ahead of him, but he has grown out of the tenacious youngster stage, where players can make mistakes and rash decisions. Guimaraes has developed into a talented and smart midfielder who has caught the eyes of big-name clubs around the world.

However, NUFC has a hefty 100 million euro release clause in the Brazilian’s contract, leading to timid offers from clubs who are interested. The huge price tag is great for Newcastle United fans who hope their key player will stay at their club for at least one more year.

And can we blame him (or them)? For 150,000 pounds per week, the talented midfielder can come to training, play in games, score goals, and have a nice life in England with his wife and two children.

Plus, Guimaraes reportedly enjoys his life at the club and in his new country. He has a close relationship with teammate Joelinton and aims to put down roots in Newcastle by buying a house for his family.

Guimaraes Might Stay at Newcastle United Next Season

Bruno Guimaraes, one of the top players for NUFC and in English football at the moment, might continue wearing the infamous striped kit next year. The Newcastle United star could stay at the club for the 2024-2025 season despite garnering tons of interest from European giants like PSG.

And he would be making an interesting decision for his future. Although the other clubs have much more stature and money, his release clause makes it a hard buy. Plus, he is putting up great minutes and stats at Newcastle United.

Guimaraes played 32 matches for Newcastle last season, netting the ball four times and providing five assists throughout the year. This season, he has made 31 appearances so far, scoring four goals and providing six assists. For a box-to-box midfielder who helps on both offense and defense, these are admirable statistics.

So, if Guimaraes is going to stay put, who can PSG and the other EPL teams target?

PSG will lose their superstar striker and winger, Kylian Mbappe, to Spanish giants Real Madrid for next year. They need to bolster their rank with new attackers and goal scorers. This year, they signed Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, and Ousmane Dembele as attackers who can help improve their ranks.

Manchester City signed Alex Alcala from the LA Galaxy for an undisclosed fee and Claudio Echeverri from River Plate for less than 13 million pounds. These two moderate signings are great for building talent and bolstering their squad depth.

Although Guimaraes might stay at Newcastle United, this doesn’t mean his career has stagnated. Let’s see what he can bring in the Premier League for the 2024-2025 season.
