Tracy McGrady Might Have Leaked Some Amazing News About 2026 All-Star Weekend
Tracy McGrady is no doubt a Hall-of-Fame player on the court, but his NBC career so far has been one that features a slight leak on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast about the first All-Star weekend under the new deal for the network. This leak from McGrady is something people have been claiming for years to spice up the All-Star festivities, especially the Saturday Night Festivities. If it becomes true, I think people are going to gain a huge kick out of this and might even gain some traction back into the NBA All-Star Weekend, being as popular as McGrady’s heyday.
The Reveal
During a small, quick segment on his latest appearance on Gil’s Arena, the All-Star game comes up, and Mr. McGrady decided to drop this little nugget with an apology to NBC before leaking it. Here it is…
“Sorry NBC, If I’m not supposed to be telling this but I think they gonna have one-on-one at All-Star weekend this year.” 👀

Granted, this is a hypothetical at the moment, as he laid out in the video clip, as he did say he thinks it’s happening. But here are some more thoughts on the potential of this leak.
My Thoughts on McGrady’s Reveal

The One-on-one tournament has been something people have been asking for in the NBA All-Star festivities for years now, after the lackluster NBA dunk contests over the years. My only hiccup with this potential change to the All-Star festivities is the question of how this tournament will be run: will it be positionless or position-oriented? I think it should be position-oriented because it wouldn’t be fun to see a smaller guard having to guard a player like Kevin Durant or Victor Wembanyama, for example.
But I can see the other side of things as well, as the one-on-one tournament might be a more beautiful piece of art if it were positionless. However, the issue of size is one of those situations that will deter non-believers of the one-on-one concept from beginning with it. But as Stephen Curry said earlier on the Today Show, “This is the most skilled era of basketball.” And what better way of displaying this era of skilled players than having a One-on-One Tournament?
If it does happen, I personally can’t wait for it as the All-Star Weekend as a whole needs some spicing up even though Mac McClung has tried his best to revive the dunk contest, and the three-point contest is electric, this is NEEDED! Hopefully, T-Mac is right and this is happening, and he would have the inside scoop if it is, since he is working for the network that is covering the event.
