Giannis Antetokounmpo Completely Shuts Down Knicks Trade Rumors
Following the Milwaukee Bucks’ 121-111 victory over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo quickly shut down any lingering offseason speculation linking him to a potential trade. When questioned about reports that he had expressed interest in joining the Knicks, Antetokounmpo was direct and focused on the present.
Giannis Antetokounmpo: “I’m Here Representing My Team”
During the post-game press conference, a reporter asked if it was true that he had communicated a desire to be traded to New York. Antetokounmpo immediately questioned the source of the report, stating, “Who said that? I’m here representing my team. That’s it. We beat the Knicks.”
He made it clear that his attention is on his current team and not on outside noise. “I didn’t read that article, try to stay away from all the rumors, speculation and trade and all this,” he added, effectively ending the conversation and reinforcing his commitment to Milwaukee. The comments came after an ESPN report earlier in the month suggested the Bucks and Knicks had engaged in a “multi-week process” of trade talks centered around the two-time MVP.
A Dominant Performance on the Court
Antetokounmpo let his performance do most of the talking, leading all scorers with a dominant 37 points on an efficient 16-of-22 shooting. He also contributed eight rebounds and seven assists, playing a pivotal role in securing the win against a team many considered a top contender in the Eastern Conference.
Despite offseason chatter fueled by Milwaukee’s recent playoff disappointments, the Bucks have started the season strong with a 3-1 record. The front office was active during the break, re-signing key players like Bobby Portis and making a significant move to acquire center Myles Turner. For now, Antetokounmpo’s focus appears squarely on leading this re-tooled Bucks roster as they look to build on their solid start. The team will face its next test on Thursday when it hosts the Golden State Warriors.
