Dallas Mavericks Fans Are the Most Foul-Mouthed Fandom
According to VegasInsider’s analysis, the Dallas Mavericks turned out to be the most foul-mouthed fandom. 17.071% of the Mavericks’ comments included swear words. The Indianapolis Colts and Memphis Grizzlies are the second and third-most foul-mouthed fandoms. 16.383% of the Colts’ comments included swear words, while 16.326% of the Memphis Grizzlies’ comments included swear words.
In contrast, the fandom that turned out to be the most polite was CF Montreal. Just 6.696% of the CF Montreal’s comments included swear words. The Seattle Kraken and Los Angeles FC are the second and third-most polite fandoms. Just 8.739% of Seattle Kraken’s comments included swear words, while only 9.018% of Los Angeles FC’s comments included swear words.
Mavericks Fans Have the Most Negative Fandom
According to VegasInsider, all of the top five spots for the most negative fandoms belonged to NBA teams.. The Dallas Mavericks were at the top of the list since 31.921% of their comments were classified as negative.
The New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies were the second and third-most-negative fandoms. 30.113% of the Pelicans’ comments were negative, while 30.103% of the Grizzlies’ comments were negative.
In contrast, the top three most positive fandoms are the Utah Jazz, 53.899% of the Jazz’s comments were classified as positive, followed by Real Salt Lake with 53.826%, and Utah Mammoth with 53.110%.
Final Thoughts
The Dallas Mavericks are the most foul-mouthed and negative fandom among the five major professional sports leagues in North America.
This isn’t a great look for the Mavericks, who are 2-7 entering Saturday’s game against the lowly Washington Wizards, who are 1-8, in the nation’s capital. However, Dallas can use the negativity to create a positive outlook and win more games in the near future.
In total, 9,429,340 comments from 154 subreddits of the five professional sports fandoms were analyzed, looking for comments that contained swear words. In total, 1,228,353 swear words were found.
The emotional tone of each comment was assessed and categorized as either negative, positive, or neutral. Comments with a compound score below -0.05 were categorized as negative. The analysis was conducted in November 2025.
