Nickeil Alexander-Walker signs 4-year $62 Million Contract with Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks keep on winning the offseason so far with another huge move for Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Alexander-Walker signs a 4-year, $62 million contract with the Hawks, according to Shams Charania on Monday night. Alexander-Walker is a huge win for the Hawks as they get a 3-D forward that needs no introduction. To complete the deal, the Hawks are sending a 2027 second-round pick via Cleveland and cash to Minnesota. Here are NAW’s numbers from last season.Â
Nickeil Alexander-Walker’s Numbers
The now former Timberwolf averaged 9.4 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, with a 43.8% field goal percentage and 38.1% three-point percentage in 2024-25. Alexander-Walker percentages dipped in the postseason last year, but now in Atlanta, he has Trae Young distributing him the basketball over the older Mike Conley.Â
So this move should benefit him as well for the next few years, as he’ll get even better looks off Trae Young’s drive and kick. This is a perfect replacement for DeAndre Hunter for the Hawks, which is ironic because the Hawks moved on from a UVA guy and brought in a Virginia Tech guy the following offseason. As a Virginia Native, I found that funny. This move, along with the Porzingis trade, makes the Hawks a legit contender in the East next year.Â
Final Thoughts
I love the Atlanta Hawks’ offseason so far, and this move is another move that upgrades the feeling of the Hawks as a dark horse in the Eastern Conference for me. Alexander-Walker is an underrated wing player who will fulfill the role that the Hawks will need from him for the next four years. It will be interesting to see if Trae Young becomes the veteran leader that the Hawks need him to be for them to be that elite-level team moving forward.
