The 2024-25 NBA MVP Finalists Are Elite
The 2024-25 NBA MVP finalists have been revealed, and these three finalists are very deserving. The three finalists for the MVP award are Oklahoma City Thunder Point Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Denver Nuggets Center Nikola Jokic, and Milwaukee Bucks Forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. The vote for this award will be a very interesting race, especially when you look at all three players’ resumes. Let’s take a look at them now.
Shai Gilegous-Alexander’s 2024-25 Season In Review
The current betting favorite for the NBA MVP Award, SGA, has probably the best resume of the finalists after the season. SGA led the league in 20-point, 30-point, 40-point, and 50-point games this season with the following stat line. SGA averaged 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game for the Western Conference’s No. 1 seed for the second year in a row. I love his chances to win the MVP Award this season.
Nikola Jokic 2024-25 Season In Review
Jokic is vying for back-to-back NBA MVPs for the fourth NBA MVP award of his career. He is arguably the biggest competitor to SGA’s case for the award. Jokic averaged a triple-double during the regular season, and the last player to average a triple-double during the whole season was Russell Westbrook. He won the MVP that season. Jokic averaged 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.2 assists per game this season for the Nuggets.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 2024-25 Season in Review
The final finalist for the NBA MVP award is the “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis averaged 30.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game on 60.1% shooting from the field in the 2024-25 regular season for the Bucks. He is deserving of this award for keeping the Bucks upright during Damian Lillard’s injury and the Bobby Portis suspension. If the Bucks did not have Antetokounmpo this season, they would have probably been in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Final Thoughts
All three of these guys are worthy of this year’s NBA MVP Award but there only can be one winner. Although plenty of people think that Jokic is more deserving of the award because of the historic numbers that he put up, this is SGA’s award to lose in my estimation.
The Thunder again have the best record in the Western Conference and SGA is leading the league in points. Plus, SGA has been the most consistent player from start to finish this season, although I will admit that Jokic is a close second for the award.
