Los Angeles Dodgers Continue May Swoon With 4th Straight Loss
Once the calendar flipped over to May, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ struggles began. Los Angeles dropped their fourth straight game last night home against the Arizona Diamondbacks to fall to 8-9 this month. The issue for the Dodgers over the month has been an inconsistent offense and pitching staff. Those sorts of inconsistencies have led to a disappointing month for the defending World Series champions. Will the Los Angeles Dodgers be able to turn things around?
Los Angeles Dodgers Season Summary
The Dodgers lead the National League West with a 29-19 record. As expected, the offense has been tremendous. They are leading the league in batting average, first in home runs, tied for the league lead in runs scored, second in OBP, first in OPS, and leading the league in Slugging Percentage. LA’s offense is full of all-time greats. First Baseman Freddie Freeman is second in the league in batting average and OPS. Designated Hitter Shohei Ohtani is eighth in batting average, leading the league in home runs, and third in OPS.
LA’s pitching staff has been the weaker part of their ballclub. They are 22nd in ERA, 14th in opposing batting average, and 18th in WHIP. Starting Pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto has led the staff. He is top 10 in the league in wins, ERA, and WHIP. The Los Angeles Dodgers need better production on the mound to repeat as world champions.
Final Thoughts
Los Angeles looks to get back in the win column this evening in the middle game of their three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks. While the struggles in May are nothing to be concerned about, it could become a flashing red light if the Dodgers cannot get on track soon.
