Cam Schlittler Average, But Joe Ryan Too Much In Game 3
Cam Schlittler, the young Yankee starting pitcher, made his sixth career start (second at Yankee Stadium). He pitched well, but the Yankees did not score much. Cam Schlittler was not outclassed in this game. It would be reasonable to feel sorry for him because it seems as if each start he makes is important. The Yankees lost this game 4-1. Cam Schlittler has a ton of potential for the Yankees ‘ fans. It was good to see both Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge in the lineup. Do you know the Yankees’ record when they both hit home runs?

News and Notes
Jasson Dominguez is fifth in the first American League Rookie of the Year poll. He is behind both Nick Kurtz and Jacob Wilson of the Athletics. Dominguez also trails Roman Anthony of the Boston Red Sox and Noah Cameron of the Kansas City Royals. Kurtz is killing it. Dominguez has no chance. Yankees Starting Pitcher Will Warren is listed in the ‘others receiving votes.
Stanton and Carlos Rodon had big nights for the Yankees on Tuesday. Stanton had four hits in the game. The offensive explosion was on a par with his outstanding hitting since he came off the IL. Rodon pitched seven innings. He was the second straight starter for the Yankees; Will Warren was the other, who pitched into the seventh inning. With an off day today, the bullpen for the Yankees is in good shape.
There is much consternation about whether the Yankees will make the playoffs. They will, if they win games. They need to win games. The game last night was delayed by rain for one hour and fifty-two minutes.
Game Reaction
Cam Schlittler did not allow a first-inning run. This was counter to the pattern he had established thus far. He also did not allow a run in the second inning or the third inning. We are watching the maturation of Cam Schlittler before our very eyes. The Yankees need to score more than 1 run. That was poor support for Cam Schlittler.
Paul Goldschmidt has a sprained knee and will be evaluated before the series starts in St. Louis. He was not available as an option to pinch-hit for the light-hitting Wells in the seventh inning. Wells took the at-bat against Kody Funderburk instead. There was a good reason. Goldschmidt was unavailable due to a low-grade right knee sprain, the Yanks revealed after their 4-1 loss to the Twins at Yankee Stadium.
Scoring Summary: Cam Schittler Pitches Well
In the first inning, Bellinger hit a solo home run. It was 1-0 Yankees. In the fourth inning, Keashall grounded out and Lanach scored. That run tied the game at one. In the sixth inning, Clemens doubled. Buxton and Keachschall scored. The Twins took a 3-1 lead. Grisham made a fielding error. Then Lewis doubled and Keaschall scored. The Twins led 4-1, and that was the final score.
Conclusion
Poor Cam Schlittler. He pitched well again, but he was betrayed by the defense and his bullpen. It is funny that the Rogers Clemens’ son helped the Twins beat the Yankees for the first time in 10 games. The Yankees needed to win this game and complete the sweep of the Minnesota Twins. The Twins made nine trades at the trade deadline and traded away most of their talent. This was an unfortunate loss. The Yankees are off today and then travel to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals on Friday.
