The Kansas City Chiefs and standout Linebacker came to terms on a three-year $45 contract on Sunday afternoon. The deal reportedly includes $30 million fully guaranteed at signing. Bolton was set to become a free agent. This contract will keep him with the Kansas City Chiefs for years.
Bolton has been a crucial part of KC’s defense since he entered the league in 2021. He is coming off another solid season in 2024. Bolton finished with 106 total tackles and 3 sacks. He also had 20 total tackles during KC’s postseason run. Can Bolton live up to this contract for the Kansas City Chiefs?

Bolton comes back to a Chiefs defense that has been one of the league’s best over the past two seasons. Kansas City was embarrassed 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX by the Philadelphia Eagles. Kansas City’s defense held its own for as long as it could but their offense struggled.
Kansas City must make a concerted effort to upgrade its offensive line. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was sacked 6 times in the game and harassed countless more times. Bolton and the rest of KC’s defense will be relied upon heavily next season as Kansas City tries to put its offense back together.
Final Thoughts
With Tight End Travis Kelce returning for 2025, Kansas City’s team is beginning to take shape. The team re-signing Bolton was critical as well. He has helped anchor Kansas City’s defense during his career. He will look to continue growing in Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s system and remain a key contributor.
