Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been in the news a lot lately. He is entering the final year of his contract, and owner Jerry Jones does not seem willing to give him a new one. The team is also looking to break the streak of not making it to the conference championship. However, Prescott has been in the news for another reason. The quarterback was accused of sexual assault, according to a lawsuit that had been filed. On Wednesday, the judge dismissed the case.
Judge Dismisses Case Against Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott
The woman who filed the police report against the Dallas Cowboys quarterback alleged Dak Prescott assaulted her back in 2017. She wanted Prescott to pay $100 million, or she would go public. Prescott was not charged in the case as the Dallas police did not find sufficient evidence. A judge agreed that there was no case here. According to TMZ Sports, online court records show the case was thrown out on Wednesday. Prescott’s lawyer, Levi McCathern, released this statement to TMZ.
“Despite Ms. Shores and her legal team’s relentless efforts to extort money and damage Dak’s reputation, justice has consistently prevailed and will continue to do so. These ploys distract from the trauma of legitimate sexual assault survivors and undermine the progress that our society has made in supporting them. We are proud that Dak stands up against this injustice and thankful Judge Tucker agrees.“
The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott can now move on and focus on the upcoming season. Based on the reports, it isn’t shocking the case was dismissed as it seemed to lack evidecne.
Onto The 2024 Season
The Dallas Cowboys can now shift their focus to the field. Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott both are in the final years of their deals. If the team does not achieve the desired result, Jerry Jones will likely try and find the next great quarterback and coach pairing. There is immense pressure on this team especially after last season ended. They were undefeated at home before getting shellacked by the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round.
The past few years have been heartbreaking for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans. It isn’t that they’ve lost; it’s how they’ve lost. Every year seems to be more devastating than the last. The team is mostly the same, as they did little to add in free agency. Can the Cowboys break the curse and make a Super Bowl run in 2024?
