Kai Trump Will Make Her LPGA Debut This Week
Caitlin Clark won’t be the biggest name at the LPGA event this week. Kai Trump will be one of the 108 golfers competing in the Annika Tournament this week at Gainbridge at Pelican, Nov. 13-16, in Belleair, Florida.
Kai Trump’s LPGA Debut
The 18-year-old Trump is the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his former wife Vanessa and will make her LPGA debut at the tour’s penultimate event of the year.
One of three amateurs in the field, Kai is expected to meet with the media on Tuesday, play in the pro-am on Wednesday, and begin the competition on Thursday. The Annika, driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, gets three invitations, and each major stakeholder gets to pick one.
Fifteen of the 25 players in the world will be in the field this week, including three-time winner Nelly Korda. The club, owned by the Doyle family, invited Kai Trump to the tournament.
She played in three AJGA events this season with a scoring average of 83.6. At the premiere Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, she finished a distant last with rounds of 89-79-83-89. She has yet to play in a USGA event and is not listed in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. In the Universal Golf Rankings, she ranks 1,083rd, and in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings, she ranks 1,288th.
Kai Trump Is Heading To Miami
Kai Trump made it official last Friday, inking her intention to play golf at the University of Miami beginning next fall. The Hurricanes are currently ranked 68th in the country and finished off the fall season last month with a win at the White Sands Invitational in the Bahamas.
Kai is well known in the golf community and goes to the same school as Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie, in West Palm Beach, Florida. They also play in junior tournaments together.
