Thus far this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have had a chaotic, yet uninspiring offseason. After losing several key contributors to free agency and dealing (or not dealing) with the Dak Prescott contract extension situation, the Cowboys are now apparently unhappy with their star defensive player’s behavior.
Micah Parsons is one of the best defenders in the NFL. In his three seasons in Dallas, Parsons is a two-time All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler and has finished in the top three of the Defensive Player of the Year voting in all three seasons. With his rookie contract set to expire, Dallas must choose to either pick up or decline his fifth-year option, which is worth over $21 million.
Is their real behavioral concern, or is the organization attempting to distance themselves with a new contract looming?

Shan Shariff made an interesting comment on 105.3 the FAN in Dallas that Micah Parsons‘ behavior is “wearing thin” inside the Cowboys‘ organization. According to Shariff, a number of unidentified people within the organization would be relieved to see him go.
“I’ve heard from way too many people this offseason. I’m talking about at least four different people (have told me) that Micah has worn thin there,” 105.3 The Fan’s Shan Shariff said Friday. “I don’t know how much is true and how much it actually hurts (his reputation). I don’t know whether this is the behavior of a typical superstar. I don’t how damaging it is. But all I do know is this – I’ve heard from way too many people that if Micah Parsons was out of there, there would be a decent amount of people inside the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco smiling or breathing a sigh of relief.”
Earlier this offseason, former Cowboys wide receiver Jesse Holley said that Micah Parsons is the “most selfish player” on the Cowboys because he doesn’t want to play linebacker and only wants to be great “for Micah.”

Dez Bryant Came to Parsons’ Defense
Aw sh** I know how this go SMFH@MicahhParsons11 this what happens whenever it’s time to get paid… https://t.co/DY8sqmx3Rr

In 2018, the Dallas Cowboys released Dez Bryant after he publicly refused to take a pay cut. The release came ahead of Dallas owing him $12,500,000 for the next season. Ultimately, the Cowboys never offered him a pay cut, they just released him. Additionally, Bryant was said to be a sideline distraction due to his emotional behavior before he was let go.
It is worth noting Micah Parsons had character concerns coming out of Penn State. This caused him to fall to the No. 12 selection in the 2021 draft. However, never underestimate a team’s ability to find reasons to rid themselves of big-money contracts. This is a jump-off point for a story that can start rolling downhill in a hurry.
