Jordan Seaton Leaves Colorado In Shocking Turn Of Events
Jordan Seaton is one of the best left tackles in all of college football and is going to be a sure-fire first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Seaton committed to Colorado in December of 2023, after Coach Prime’s first disastrous season with the Buffs. His goal that offseason was to add offensive line help to protect Shedeur Sanders, and they had a massive turnaround in year two.
Seaton Is Now Gone
When Jordan Seaton committed to Colorado, it shocked the College Football world. He was the best tackle in the nation coming out of high school and held a ton of offers from bigger teams willing to give him more money. He believed in Deion Sanders‘ vision and wanted to win, rather than chase a bag like many players are doing in the new landscape of College Football swarmed by NIL. While it was awesome for two seasons, the five-star left tackle has now officially entered the transfer portal.
On Monday night, Seaton announced on Instagram that he was entering the portal, posting a goodbye to Colorado. This news obviously came as a shock to the fanbase, with only 4 days left before the Portal closes, putting Colorado in a really tough spot moving forward. There were rumblings of him leaving late last season, but as the offseason went on, it seemed unlikely that he would depart and finish his collegiate career with Colorado.
It sounds like a high-ranking team like Oregon or Texas offered him a lot of money to enter the Portal, and in the end, that’s what he decided to do. The good news is that Deion Sanders and Brennan Marion have been hard at work recruiting players to rebuild the offense, which relies heavily on the running game and offensive linemen who can create huge lanes for the running backs.
Colorado Is Prepared
The Buffs bringing in three transfer power four offensive tackles with starting experience makes a lot more sense now. Although they’re not Jordan Seaton, they fit Marion’s system and have excelled in run blocking. Not only that, but Colorado has added more talent to the portal. Notable names who’ve committed are Taj White, Bo Hughley, and Jayven Richardson.
Hughley and Richardson both have starting experience in the SEC and graded out pretty well against high-end talent. Hughley is an absolute monster, standing tall at 6 feet 7 inches, and will most likely be starting at tackle next season. Richardson comes over from Missouri and will compete for a starting job along the line. They all have one goal in mind, which is to protect Julian Lewis, who’s going to lead the helm in Boulder for the foreseeable future.
The Buffs Are Still Hard At Work
Colorado has been working extremely hard these past few weeks to rebuild its entire roster, and the offensive line is the final piece of the puzzle. They landed a commitment from Demetrius Hunter, who’s projected to be their starting center next season after having a ton of success down in Houston with the Cougars. While losing Jordan Seaton isn’t easy, Brennan Marion is focusing on finding his replacement to put himself in the best possible position to succeed next year. There is a ton of talent left in the transfer portal, and a lot of money has now freed up with Seaton’s departure.
As for Jordan Seaton, the two biggest teams to watch right now are the Oregon Ducks and the Texas Longhorns. Oregon was heavily involved in Seaton’s recruitment coming out of high school, and they have a ton of money to spend. Entering the transfer portal this late in the process suggests he has a significant offer on the table and wants to see if he can spark a bidding war among teams now that he’s officially available.
