Catholic University Track and Field Succeeds At Farley Inter Regional In Last Meet Before Nationals

Catholic University did well at the Farley Inter Regional. This is the last meet before the National Championships. There were not many personal records set; however, the athletes placed well.

The Farley Inter Regional was very full with huge heats. This article will be a little different from our previous articles, as we will list the top finishers for Catholic University in each event. There were some great performances and at least one win. How do you think the Cardinals will do in the National Championship?

Catholic University was successful in the Farley Inter Regional. Here we will list the top finishers in each event, organized by distance, including the preliminaries. In the men’s 100-meter preliminary race, Calvin Hernandez was second and qualified for the final. He finished third in the final, in a time of 10.89 seconds. Erin Buckley also qualified in the women’s 100-meter preliminary, finishing seventh. Buckley finished in sixth place in 12.73 seconds.

In the men’s 200-meter race, Sean Owens finished 25th. In the women’s race, Kortney Clipper finished fourth, in a time of 25.55 seconds, and Sarah Schumacher finished 10th. Ainsley Reisman finished 13th. Felicity Giampietro finished 19th.

In the men’s 400-meter, Owens finished 15th for Catholic University. In the Women’s 400-meter race, Zoey Brown finished eighth. In the Men’s 400-meter hurdles, Emmanuel Olarewaju was 13th. In the Women’s race, Mia McConnell was seventh in a time of 1:02.79 seconds, which was the 31st fastest time in Division Three history.

In the women’s 4×100 meter relay, the Catholic University team of Erin Buckley, Kourtney Clipper, Reisman, and Schumacher won in a time of 47.89. In the women’s 800-meter race, Mya Samgpong finished in 36th place, and Alexa Grassi finished right behind her in 41st place. In the men’s 800-meter race, Peter Winter finished 17th with a time of 1:52.02. That became the 48th-best time in Division Three.

In the women’s 1500-meter race, Olivia Sobkowicz finished in a time of 4:47.86. In the men’s 1500-meter race, Michael Burnet finished in 11th place. His time of 3:48.89 was the 21st fastest division three time.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Tim Brown finished in 14th place in a time of 9:46.21. Shane Waring finished right behind him in 16th place with a time of 9:55.02. In the women’s 5,000-meter race, Bridgid Cavanaugh finished in 12th place in a time of 15:45.09. In the men’s 5,000-meter race, Michael Brunet finished in seventh place in his heat and 38th place overall in a time of 14:59.09. Joey Locke ran a time of 1522.44 to finish in 60th place overall.

In the field events, Kate Quashne was 11th in the women’s pole vault, a first for Catholic University. In the men’s high jump, Quinn Brubaker finished 15th. In the women’s long jump, Quashne jumped 4.74 meters. She traveled 10.29 meters in the triple jump. Nick Chang finished ninth in the men’s event with a distance of 13.23 meters.

What Comes Next?

This meet was key to qualifications for nationals. Athletes needed to finish in the top 22 overall to make it to nationals. We will have to wait for the other regionals to know for sure, but for an athlete who finished outside the top 22 in this meet, their season is over.
