According to Meltzer, McIntyre was also to lose the match but would quickly bounce back as he was to regain his winning form in just a couple of days.

The choice of Drew McIntyre as his opponent was strategic, as WWE believed McIntyre could handle the loss and quickly regain his momentum. Meltzer elaborated, saying;
Punk made him tap out, He gave him four GTS’s and he touched all four corners without the other guy touching the corner behind him. They did tease that earlier in the match. The basic gist was Punk had not had a big win. He had been in the company since November and they just felt he needed a massive win because he’s a massive star. They felt that Drew can handle it and Drew was going to get his heat back two days later.
The Fallout on Raw
As expected, following his defeat at the hands of CM Punk, Drew McIntyre was quick to get a measure of revenge on his opponent. In the post-Raw of the event, McIntyre attacked him, Drew was quick to dismantle the bracelet he had taken off during the fight.
The assault was vicious and the end of the assault even saw him having to be carried off on a stretcher. Since then this rivalry has been escalating and going deeper and deeper to its new height. Their next encounter is expected in Hell in a Cell Match at the Bad Blood event.
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been feuding for the past few weeks and it seems more intense match-ups can be expected in the next few weeks. Due to such a mentality, the fight between both superstars will surely become one of the most awaited for the Hell in a Cell match.
