Ohio State Wrestling Accomplishments
To this point in the season, the Ohio State wrestling team has an impressive list of accomplishments. Here is a summary of the season so far that sets up as another collision with the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Ohio State wrestling won its first conference meet of the year on January 11 at home against No. 23 Indiana, 45-0. It was the first shutout in the series with the Hoosiers. It was the first shutout for the Buckeyes since shutting out Maryland on Jan. 23, 2023.
Ohio State had a couple of champions last Sunday at the Red Raider Open. Freshmen Brogan Fielding at 141 pounds and Maddox Shaw, also a freshman, at 149 pounds were both champions.
Ohio State took a long trip to Corvallis to take on Oregon State in early January. The long trip did not matter. The Buckeyes won 41-3. At the Midlands Championships in late December, Ohio State won titles at 165 and 197 pounds. Meanwhile, Vincent Kilkeary, at 125 pounds, and Shaw, at 149 pounds, finished seventh.

Ohio State Wrestling Lineup
While occasionally wrestling lineups change, it is possible to state who the main wrestlers for a team are at the various weight classes.
Nic Bouzakis, at 133 pounds, Ben Davino, at 133 pounds, Jesse Mendez, at 141 pounds, Ethan Stiles, at 149 pounds, Brandon Cannon, at 157 pounds, Paddy Gallagher, at 165 pounds, Carson Kharchla, at 174 pounds, Dylan Fishback, at 184 pounds, Luke Geog, and Nick Feldman.
Collison Course
In wrestling, results tend to follow the rankings, so both Ohio State and Penn State will likely win out until they meet each other. Penn State has won a total of 77 consecutive dual meets to this point. They host Ohio State in a dual on Feb. 13.
Ohio State does have several highly-ranked wrestlers, so the Buckeyes could win this meet, but Penn State has more, so an upset is unlikely. Ohio State will get other chances at the wrestlers from Penn State. They will face each other in the Big Ten Conference Championships. They will also possibly face each other in the National Championships.
