John Harbaugh: What Teams Should Fire Their Current Head Coach To Hire Him?
Former Baltimore Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh will be the hottest head coach on the market this cycle. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that seven NFL teams have reached out to Harbaugh’s agent expressing interest in the Super Bowl winner. Since there are seven openings, including the Ravens, at least one team with a current head coach has reached out to gauge the interest. Which teams should fire their head coach to hire Harbaugh?
What Teams With An Employed Head Coach Should Pivot To Harbaugh?
Buffalo Bills: Head Coach Sean McDermott’s job security hinges upon Buffalo’s success this postseason. The Bills have not been able to break through in the AFC during Josh Allen’s tenure. With no Chiefs, Ravens, or Bengals in the NFL Playoffs, the time is now to make a Super Bowl. If not, Harbaugh would be a great fit.
Miami Dolphins: Even though Mike McDaniel’s job is reportedly safe, Harbaugh being available changes everything. The team is also interested in the Super Bowl-winning head coach. He would help take the Dolphins over the top.
Philadelphia Eagles: I know this may seem crazy, but you can never put anything past the Philadelphia Eagles. Head Coach Nick Sirianni is habitually on the hot seat, and General Manager Howie Roseman is one of the most aggressive executives in the sport. He moved off another Super Bowl-winning head coach, Doug Pederson, soon after winning a Super Bowl. I would not expect this to happen, but it would be foolish to rule it out.
What Does This All Mean?
Harbaugh is such an experienced head coach that nearly all NFL teams, whether they currently employ a head coach or not, should hold a meeting to see if he would be an upgrade at head coach. If he wants a job next season, he will have no shortage of teams calling him up.
