Anthony Davis’ New Suitors in Dallas Mavericks Trade Race
Anthony Davis’ new suitors in the Dallas Mavericks trade race have been a red-hot topic. Here’s who the newfound suitors are and how they can change the Mavericks trade race.
Anthony Davis’ New Suitors
The Anthony Davis trade rumors have been in full force. Davis’ new suitors in the trade race have only made the topic become even more interesting.
The Golden State Warriors are reportedly interested in Davis, 32, even after the 32-year-old suffered a groin injury during the Warriors’ Christmas game against the Dallas Mavericks. The Atlanta Hawks’ interest in the 6-foot-10, 253-lb forward and center reportedly remain in effect amid all the injuries.
On Friday, NBA insider Chris Haynes said Golden State is contemplating making a case to acquire Anthony Davis. Golden State’s case to acquire Davis makes sense. The Warriors want like a rim-rolling big man who can protect the paint. Davis would deliver when healthy.
Davis’ Current Outlook
The Chicago native’s current outlook appears to be bleak, with a long list of injuries. But, at the same time, the Chicago native is playing some of his best basketball this season, with excellent performances before the Christmas game against the Warriors.
If the Warriors trade for the former No. 1 pick, Haynes said a third team would likely need to get involved in the trade. The Mavs reportedly aren’t intrigued by the Warriors’ assets offered. The Warriors would need to acquire additional assets or get another team involved.
In contrast, Atlanta’s potential trade with the Kentucky basketball alum appears to be more likely. According to Haynes, Trae Young wouldn’t be included in a potential deal as the Mavs would pursue expiring contracts, young players, and future draft capital.
It’s important to note that Zaccharie Risacher, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, would likely be included in any deal the Hawks make with the Mavs. Risacher, 20, would be a great player for the Mavs if the trade talk continues with the Hawks. Risacher’s 3-and-D wing potential and great size compliment his skill set.
Final Thoughts
The 2020 NBA Champion should be traded sooner than later. The 2020 NBA Champion’s veteran leadership and solid play can help a struggling Hawks team get back on track and make a playoff push. The Mavs’ top priority should be to build around Cooper Flagg.
