Denver Broncos Cruise Past Las Vegas Raiders In 24-17 Win
The Denver Broncos defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 24-17 in dominating fashion, with Las Vegas putting up 10 garbage time points late in the fourth quarter to make it seem closer than it actually was. Bo Nix was great, completing 82% of his passes, and threw for over 200 yards, leading Denver to its 10th straight win.
Broncos Sweep the Raiders
For the second straight season, the Denver Broncos maintained their dominance over the Las Vegas Raiders, leading throughout while excelling on both offense and defense. Nix was fantastic, avoiding risky throws and capitalizing on every opportunity the Raiders defense offered.
Defensively, the Broncos carried their strong momentum into the matchup with Geno Smith, as Nik Bonitto recorded two sacks to bring his season total to 12.5. After Brock Bowers scored at the end of the first quarter, Denver didn’t allow a point until the final minutes of the fourth, making the result seem closer than it really was. As a result, the Broncos are now 3-1 in divisional play, with their sole loss in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With this win, the Broncos are tied with the New England Patriots for the top seed in the AFC, just four games from the season’s end. Looking ahead, they’ll return home to face the Green Bay Packers, while the Patriots host Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills next Sunday.
Raiders Continue To Fall
The Las Vegas Raiders’ nightmare season is soon coming to an end. They’re currently tied for the worst record in football and could finish with a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The Raiders will travel to Philadelphia to take on the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles. The team’s starting quarterback has not been named, as Geno Smith exited today’s game with a right hand injury.
If Geno Smith can’t play, Kenny Pickett will get the start at quarterback for the Raiders against Philadelphia and try to snap the team’s seven-game losing streak. The most important game left on the schedule for Head Coach Pete Carroll and the Raiders will be against Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants on December 27. The team that loses that game may secure the first overall pick in the draft and potentially acquire their next franchise superstar.Â
It has been a fun year thus far in the NFL, and the league is as wide open as it has been in a long time, with multiple top teams now near the bottom of the standings. The Denver Broncos are in a strong position to benefit from this, with their main competition appearing to be the New England Patriots, led by Drake Maye.
